It's only been a week. "I'll see you." He waves before retreating. Hiro waves back and waits for him to be gone before deciding to climb up. He hasn't made his first step yet when another guy blocks his line of vision, with the same energy the stranger from a while ago—the one following him—was emitting. But he knows who this guy is. It's Jun Masamoto. Tall, and handsome, with masculine features and textbook brown eyes that turns gold every time he doesn't get what he wants. He's a werewolf.

There wasn’t much—just bile from an empty stomach because I hadn’t eaten since before work —but it seared my throat, and the sour stench turned my stomach all over again. “I didn’t know you were squeamish,” hoodie guy said. “No,” I rasped. “I just don’t enjoy hearing people describe how they jammed their bone back inside their finger like a goddamn Lego piece.” He tilted his head. “You should drink some water.” “Water?” I laughed weakly, voice trembling. “Yeah, sure. Let me just grab some from the imaginary vending machine.” “Can you both shut the fuck up!” the redhead shouted suddenly, voice cracking. “Some of us are still trying to process the fact that people just… exploded.”

And Amara’s face tells me that she saw right through it. Without any second thought, Amara lunged at me and pulled me into a tight hug. “You don’t have to pretend, okay?” she whispered. “I promise… I’ll help you and little pea to find a new place. Both of you won’t face it alone. I’ll still come and visit.” I let out a small laugh and hugged her back. “I know you won’t leave us,” I mumbled. “You won’t survive without your best friend anyway.”

Amos smiled while squinting at the sight before him. “I am Amos Augustus. I have a meeting with Commander Hannah.” The red light on his head instantly disappeared. The steel doors, which were once locked tight, slowly slid open. Amos showed a faint smirk as he stepped forward with his arms crossed. His path was unobstructed. Not a single soldier was seen around him either. It was as if the base was completely empty. Then again, Amos knew there were at least a hundred firearms pointed at him at this very moment.

Amaris "So, there are how many packs?" I ask, my head beginning to hurt at the amount of information that has been being hurled at me over the last half hour. "Within the United States alone, there are almost fifty packs. In the world, there are more than a hundred different packs," Glendon, the Alpha tells me. "Are there only wolves and humans that reside on the earth?" I ask, glancing between the four people around me. "No," Zach says with a grin. "There are other shifters—bear, feline, dragon."

My mouth couldn't help but curl up in its usual disgust as I glared at him. "I'm just here for today," I gulped and looked away as I saw the sad look on some of their faces, "I'm here because Naza is sick." Some grumbled sadly while the others uttered 'Thank God' softly. "That girl was a prison warder! Let her heal Kezie, just stay with us for this week! Come on!" Someone shouted and the others shouted, saying the same thing. Khalil just mysteriously looked at me making me feel uneasy but jerked suddenly as his assistant coach and best friend, Manuel, placed his hand on his shoulder heavily.

Simple, yet effective. Given there are no classes today, I assume the training grounds will be empty. Everyone either sleeping off a hangover, or sleeping in a bed that doesn't belong to them. It's not a secret that students at Aetherion Academy love to party and crawl into others beds. It's an easy way to blow off steam.

Jenny July-Ten Years Ago I was so excited to have the Seasmoke crew back in town. This would be our third summer together, and the year seemed to take forever to pass. Matt and I talked once a week by phone and emailed, but it just wasn't the same.
