Magic they feared. I run my fingers across the cracked spines until I find what I’m looking for: Ancient Witchcraft of the Forgotten Era. Bound in deep green leather, barely holding together. The writing on the cover is almost worn off. I carry it to one of the heavy tables near the back and sit. The pages whisper as I turn them, the old ink uneven, some parts blurred by time or water damage. Spells of healing. Curses of madness. Rituals of possession. Nothing I haven’t seen before—

She crossed her arms and muttered, “Where’s the book?” Serena was slightly taken aback, her mind taking time to process the other fae’s request. Her lips parted. “What book?” Amie rolled her eyes and leaned forward. Her beady gaze glimmered. “The Book of Ancient Magic. Queen’s orders. Give it now if you want to face consequences.” Serena’s baffled look made Amie’s lips quirk. “You think I will let you go? If you think you were ever my friend-”

‘Now, I entrust you with the conundrums this wretched world conceals. Clara’s heart hammered in her chest despite knowing that this book might hold memories of terrible things. Things which were covered up. Who knew what she might find out? Clara turned it to the next page, eager to know more. Letters started to appear as if someone was writing on it from inside the book. ‘The Ancient Magic was the very first to ever exist, primitively called the One Magic or Lone Magic. It later on gave birth to two equally powerful attributes—the Sun and Moon. These two were halves that, when combined once again, will awaken the said Ancient Magic.

Starting from what we are and down to the moment why we ended up here. After that, I didn’t try to take a look at it again, my interest faded when I learned the truth, but not until this morning. After I found it last night inside the same old chest years ago, I decided to open it this morning thinking that Mother would wake up anytime last night while I was scanning her book. “Book of Magic: Your Answers to Everything. 1876.” I uttered as I read the cover. It was fragile and filled with dust and dirt. I did a quick scan and found that some of the pages were crumpled and torn.

There must be a reason she reacted so shocked. "Not anymore as far as I know. It became extinct many long years ago. There's no way it could be it." "Tell us Rhona, everything" Rhona sighed. She moved to the shelve housing different sort of witches spell books, including ancient ones. " Per menta mi cor tillate ulaz" An ancient looking book fell into her palm. Rhona brought it to the round table. "What's this?" Esther pulled the old, dusty book opened. "Everything I know of that magic." Rhona started.

Well… One of them. Gregory had insisted Draven and I take several books with us. Ancient journals. Old records. Personal writings from long ago. If there was an answer to what was happening to me, surely one of them had to mention it. Didn’t it? I’d been reading for nearly an hour. Maybe longer. Time had stopped meaning much. I turned another brittle page. Nothing. The chapter talked about awakening gifts, but everything it mentioned involved elemental magic. Fire. Water. Wind. Earth. Unless I woke up tomorrow shooting flames out of my hands, none of it was doing me a damn bit of good.

The room it revealed smelled of old books, dust, and ancient magic. I followed her in, unable to stop my mouth from falling open. The room was perfectly round, every wall covered with bookshelves all the way up the long, cone-shaped ceiling until it stopped at the point. Books lined the entire expanse. "This is incredible." "Within these walls are the histories of all magic. I've been here eighteen years and still haven't read them all." She went over to one of the shelves, tapped the wood, and said some words. This time the shelves folded in on themselves to reveal a secret door. "This is where we keep the most dangerous books." After more magic words, the door opened. Wind blew loose stran

I sneer, dragging her back to Anastasia and march right back into the fracas of magic. Magical lights of blue, green, purple, yellow, red, gold splash across the sky. It's actually really pretty. It's funny because the black magic coming from the Abyss isn't even half as powerful as ours is. They don't actually know how to use offensive magic. All they are able to do is put up weak shields that crumble moments later. I'd laugh... but now's not the time.

"Okay, I'm coming. Have you never heard anything about secret rooms in folklores...?" The secret room was small but astonishing. A simple bed sat in the centre, neatly made as if someone used to sleep here not too long ago. But it was covered in thick dust, as if someone fixed it, but never got to use it. Shelves lined every wall, crammed with books. Ancient ones. Some in languages I barely recognized. The air smelled of old paper and faint magic. I picked up the nearest volume. The cover was unmarked, but when I opened it the pages were filled with elegant script about white witches. Symbols, rituals, bloodlines. The ink glowed faintly under the lantern light.
