“Good morning. Do you have an appointment?”
Pinky laughed, making a sharp, dismissive sound.
“Appointment? No. Just tell him Pinky is here. He will understand.”
Lydia’s fingers paused briefly over the keyboard.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but without an appointment, I can’t let you in.”
Pinky’s smile slipped.
“Did you not hear me?” she asked slowly. “I said tell him it’s Pinky.”
“I did hear you,” Lydia replied calmly. “But company policy requires—”
