The rest faded into a low vibration that hummed through the walls. “We grant you passage,” the voices said at last. “But she must come to us. She must return it when her part is done. We want to see her.” The shadows pulled back, revealing an old wooden cabinet carved with moon symbols and soft silver runes that seemed to breathe. I stepped closer and opened it. Inside, resting on a stone pedestal, was the dagger.

Anana reached for her twin daggers first. One after the other, she drew them from their sheaths. The polished blades caught the newborn sunlight, sending slender ribbons of silver dancing between the towering trees. She inspected each edge with the careful eye of someone who had trusted those blades through countless hunts. The edges remained flawless. The balance felt as familiar as an old friend.

I wiped it away with my other palm. Removing the tissue in my mouth, I sighed in relief. It doesn't hurt that bad anymore. Christabel took care of it and she plastered it.

Abigail fired back. "I see you've brought the Soul splitter along. Never saw you as a katana person." Iñari smirked at the weapon strapped directly to Abigail's back. I was also noticing it just now.
