Vee rin naman tawag nya sakin lagi. He never called me Anika pero pag galit na sya sakin ay tinatawag nya full name ko but never nya akong tinawag na Anika. Does he hate my mom? Astonished I asked, he faked a smile and shook his head. "Mwo? I didn't say anything." He let me in but I wasn't shaken. "Aniyo! You're saying something." My persistence. Translation [Aniyo- No] "Naneul? I didn't say anything I'm telling you!" He moved onti away from me but I approached him and gave him a teasing look. "Geongmal?" He nodded so I smiled mischievously. Fluently. Even Ilocano—my mom’s from Baguio.” “Aayatin kita,” he said smoothly, switching to another accent mid-sentence. I blinked. “Uh… what was that?” As a pure Tagalog speaker, I was clueless. He laughed, warm and teasing. “It means ‘I like you’ in Ilocano.”

Only one person could answer our questions now. “N-Ninang?!” Note: Ninang is the tagalog word of ‘Godmother’
