But before Arena could carry out her lethal intent and end that bastard’s life, the door was violently flung open, and an arrow pierced Arena’s body with precision. She crashed to the ground, her cries of pain echoing through the arena. The arrow, coated with wolfbane, sapped our powers, rendering us utterly defenseless. Helplessly, Arena’s helpless eyes watched as I saw through her eyes, witnessing our attacker approach.

The other was a bundle of arrows, their tips coated in a pale blue liquid. He tucked the chocolate into the inner pocket of my hunting jacket with an ease that suggested he was placing something that had always belonged there. "Fighting on an empty stomach lacks presence." He shrugged. "The arrows were confiscated from those scouts. The tips are coated with an enhanced general antidote that delays the onset of the reverse-blood toxin. I thought Elias might find a use for them." Elias took the arrows. He drew one out to inspect the liquid against the dim daylight. Pushing his glasses up, his tone remained flat.

“This is what the assassin used?” I gave a curt nod while Beta Cam, who had been looking to find anything about the arrow rose to his feet, his palms closing over the book as he crossed over to us in a stride. “From the markings, it isn’t a common training arrow produced or used in Callid land…” He caught the arrow that Dad threw at him. “These glyphs carved on it are rare and it is hard to find where it came from” He stretched it back to Dad who collected it. “My verdict is they made it symbolic for distraction. They did it to shift the focus from their pack”

Finally, with deliberate slowness, he reached into the inner pocket of his uniform. I watched, every muscle locked in place, as he reached into his coat and slowly withdrew a single object… an arrow. Daisy still kept silent, calm as if nothing had happened. Dash’s head was like mud, he couldn’t remember anything. He quickly rushed into the bathroom and poured cold water on his head. It stared at one pair of hazel eyes as it gets ready to be pierced by the arrow the human was holding. It's been a while the wolf was waiting but the arrow it's expecting didn't come. It looked up again and Narrah stared at the wolf's anxious eyes. Her arrow is ready but the wolf's presence unexpectedly does not intimidate her. Several moments passed and nothing happened. Narrah slowly lowered her bow and retrieve the arrow while the wolf continued to stare at her.
