The Queen turned to the King, her mouth opening to argue, but his raised hand silenced her. Don’t tell me you’ve sunk so low that you’ve joined the Lycan King’s mistresses now. Is that what you’ve become? Is that how lowly you see yourself?” My chest squeezed so tight, it hurt to breathe. Each word stabbed deep, and I hated that I couldn’t stop them from cutting through me.

Then Damien lets go of me and walks towards the window. He stands there with his back to me. “There may be a way to stop this.” he says I wipe my face. “What way?” He turns around. “We change the story.” I frown. “I don't understand.” “We give the media something else.” he smiles a little “How?” His gaze meets mine. “We announce that we're together.” For a second I think I've heard him wrong. “What?” “The majority already believes Victoria.” “If I stay silent she'll keep talking.” “But if I confirm there's someone else…”
