Connor sprinted the rest of the way to the company with his left arm hanging limply by his side. Someone had tidied up the lobby in our absence, and it looked spick and span as though the stabbing had not happened at all. I gazed around me in awe. It was genuinely fascinating how small each of us was and how our deaths did not matter in the span of the entire universe. One could die, but the rest of the world would still go on. Ignoring the strange looks cast in his direction, Connor ran to my office, where Zoe was tidying my things. Zoe watched coldly as he approached. She did not utter a word—a silent retribution.

My voice wasn't loud, yet it ripped through the romantic scene like a bomb. The smiles on the guests' faces froze. Everything seemed to pause in time. Even Yvonne's radiant expression stiffened. Her usually gentle eyes were now filled with embarrassment. "What are you talking about, Cindy? Today is my and Charles' big day…" Charles' face had drained of color. He stared at me intently. "What did you just say?" I stared straight at him and repeated firmly, "I don't love you anymore. It's over between us." With that, I put down the microphone and turned to leave. This place made me sick to my stomach.

"Everything. Tonight." The line went dead.

I gave him a soft shoulder punch before slightly laughing along with him. "We are all afraid to coach, but he still left everything, not thinking anything, just you. He even left his stuff there. I don't even know if he had his wallet with him when we ran outside. Maybe that is what love can make to a guy. You can greatly affect his whole being." I just hit him.
