The scratchy feeling had gotten worse. Before I could get a word out, Maeve let out a strangled gasp. Her body went rigid and she collapsed onto the bakery floor. "Maeve!" Archer caught her before her head hit the tiles, lowering her down carefully. "Someone call the healer!" Mom dropped to her knees beside Maeve. "Sweetheart, what's wrong? Talk to me!" Maeve's eyes rolled back and her entire body began to convulse. Her limbs jerked violently as foam appeared at the corners of her mouth.

Kai’s voice screamed from the back, sounding raw and panicked. The world tilted as the lights flickered and died, and as the bus veered off the road toward the steep embankment, my last thought wasn't about the money. It was about the fact that I was trapped in a metal box with the one man I was destined to destroy, and we were about to hit the ground together.

But when he was about to be held by one of the humans, the bus stopped again and all of the people shouted again, but not in anger but frightened. When the bus stopped a vampire got inside and killed all the humans inside of the bus, they were shouting for their lives but even if we tried hard we could finish all the vampires who attacked us.

The passengers are all unconscious!” Upon hearing that, the commander clenched her walkie-talkie before commanding, “Check for survivors! Stat! Once you’re done, evacuate immediately!” “Roger that!” An anxiety-inducing minute later, the walkie-talkie flared to life again, and this time, the man reported, “We’ve scanned all the passengers and the only ones still alive are a lady and a child!”

I see the lookout ahead and brace myself. We hit them hard from behind when they begin to go around the bend. The bus straightens, and we hit it again. This time, we push it to the edge. The bus is trying to go in reverse to stop us, but we're stronger. We continue to push, and it teeters for a second before falling into the ravine below. I jump out and look over just as the bus bursts into flames.
