Appendices In A Book Novels & Stories

Dear Readers, We have reached the end of another book. It's always bittersweet to publish the final chapter of a book. These last few chapters may have felt like we skipped some things. Yes, we glossed over some moments as they were less significant to the story, and trying to write a chapter of Alexander or Delilah sitting in the therapist's office wasn't exactly compelling, nor was it enough to fill a chapter. Please don't worry- there are always chances to get glimpses of those smaller moments in more detail in future books or possible bonus stories.

I'd been reading it a lot lately, desperate to find answers. I flipped through the pages, noticing something odd for the first time. A page was missing. Ripped out, to be exact. I blinked hard, bringing the inside spine of the book closer so I could properly inspect. I hadn't been seeing things. The paper left on the page was uneven, an indication that someone had torn a page out. Why would someone do that? I scanned the surrounding pages, trying to make sense of the missing section. It seemed to be a crucial part of the book, detailing werewolf lore, ancient rituals and witch potions.

Careful and a little cramped, as though the person writing had not yet trusted that their letters would come out right. She'd read every margin note. Some were factual additions, things the young Adrian had looked up and added to the text. Some were questions. Some were observations that sat beside the printed text the way a commentary sits beside a primary source. And then, on page sixty-three, the one she kept coming back to: The most important things may be those we haven't yet turned toward. She had folded down a corner of that page and then unfolded it because she didn't usually fold corners on books. She folded it up again, for she had to be able to find it.

The preface is usually introductory content before the main text. So, Charlie felt that if the book his father received back then was really called ‘Preface to the Apocalyptic Book’, perhaps it was indeed the preface to the Apocalyptic Book! With this in mind, he quickly asked, “Uncle, after my dad got this book, what were some of the statements or actions that you couldn't understand or left a deep impression on you?”

My thinking is that I add an authors note a the end of 'book' 1 so to speak and re-write the synopsis to advise any new readers that it will be 2 books in one. Alternatively, the other idea I had was to just have a longer book, but I don't want the length to scare off new readers. Thanks in advance! :)
