Appendix Book Novels & Stories

Both were really awkward at each other at first but when they found out that both were reading the same book, they eventually got a comfortable to talk at each other. “So, you also read that book-” “Yeah, I got into it after a friend of mine recommended it to me.” “Isn’t it a great book.” “Yeah, I got hooked on it after reading the first chapter.” “bla-bla-bla” Both continued to talked to each other and enjoyed their conversation. “I was feeling an awkward atmosphere growing between our table so I was gonna try to start a conversation but when you brought out your book, I was just surprised to see a person reading it.” The girl said.

Cela remains disappointed. "C'mon. It's not like they bought everything. They just thought of giving the books as Christmas presents apart from the corporate giveaways. You must know that your mother enjoyed your first book so much. Too bad that she passed before the second one is out," Nanny Rita continued. "You've always been loyal to her," Cela said.

I explained while keeping the antique tome in his table. "It's a book about mates but this is the first volume of it's collection, and it doesn't have provided any potential information so far." Alpha Brian leaned back in his chair, his eyes scanning my face and to the book as he listened intently. "Hmm, I see. This book is part of a collection, you say?" I nodded, my fingers pointing at the back page, showing where it shows its collection. "Yes, Alpha. There are five more volumes to it, but the first one seemed more like an introduction. I couldn't find anything useful in it."

When you hunted apex predators, knowledge was the only equalizer. But something about this collection felt... off. It wasn’t tactical. It was frantic. I shifted a stack of papers. Beneath them lay medical journals about viral transmission. Ancient texts on the transition process. This wasn’t just studying the enemy. She was studying the Change. A thick, leather-bound book sat open near the edge of the desk, an anime-themed bookmark keeping the page. I picked it up, the leather cold in my hand. A tight, sickening knot formed in the pit of my stomach as I read the chapter heading in bold, archaic script.

Colin comes in, a wave of surprise hits me, but before I can say anything, Shawn follows him in. “You're here already, Eva.” Colin said, acknowledging me, a wide smile on his lips. “Not too long ago.” I replied, returning the smile. I sneak a glance at Shawn. He watched me like a hawk. Like he knew what I'd been doing. My eyes slowly stray to the big book, just to be sure I had actually closed it. The golden back rested heavily on the rest of the book, “The Codex Luporum” deeply engraved on it, you could pour water in it, and it'll sit comfortably.

He bowed and was gone as quickly as he arrived, leaving the heavy satchel behind. I lunged for the bag the moment the tent flap sealed. I untied the cord with shaking fingers and pulled out the book. It wasn't ancient and brittle. It was a modern reprint, but the cover read: Healers' Lore: The Legacy of the Wounded Crown. It was a medical text, disguised as a historical relic.

*** Author's note: Sorry for the late update, I was going through some difficulties and stopped the book, but now I'm back and it would go as normal. Thanks for the support.

“Are you kidding me? I could barely answer complications of an appendectomy, and now you’re giving me books the size of encyclopedias?” “You said you wanted to prove yourself, didn’t you?” I exhaled loudly, staring at the books in my arms. The scent of fresh pages somehow calmed me. Like opening a new chapter, maybe, a fresh start. But Liam wasn’t done. He grabbed several more and dumped them into my already full arms. “This is orthopedic basics. This one’s minor surgery. And this, surgical anatomy of the head and neck.” “LIAM!” I almost shouted. “I need two more hands to carry all this!”

They were mostly crammed full of protein bars and trash. There wasn't anything at all useful here. Nothing. She turned again, and that was when she spied it. Just the corner of what looked like a black book sticking out from under a clipboard. Aspen pushed the clipboard aside and stared at the black book she and Buzz had only glimpsed here and there. It really did exist. She snatched it up and flipped through a few pages. It was written in some sort of gibberish. Something that didn't make sense. But, someone else would know how to decipher it, right?
