(Cara's POV) In my dream, I kneeled before a white-haired man, surrounded by a few people that I was sure I had never seen before, but strangely, they felt familiar. "Catalyn of the Red Blood Pack, you have proven yourself once more, and finally, we believe you have all the qualities to become one of our warriors, the first ever female to become a warrior," he said, his voice filled with pride. I rose to my feet, a wide smile on my face. The people applauded; they all had the same look of pride in their eyes.

You can’t even shift into a proper wolf form—what, you here to deliver your own corpse to the death division?” The burly men in line erupted into raucous, jeering laughter at once. “Run on home to your needle and thread, little girl!”

He leaned over me, placing his hands on the arm rests of the chair I was sitting in, his face a hair from my own, “can you tell me honestly that you need those 2 years, will it make you any better of a warrior to know how to wait tables, or to work as a body guard to some starlet?” His eyes were full blown obsidian as he stared into my eyes, his scent swirling around me. All I wanted to do at this second was kiss him, not only because he was my mate, not only because he was driving me into a sexual frenzy with how sexy his ass is right now, but because he was right. I don’t need to learn how to wait tables, or do I need to work as anyone’s bodyguard to be the best warrior I can be. A smil

It’s a token of my participation at the trial.” I knew she was deliberately showing off to me, declaring that she could stand tall and proud at the trial arena while I was nothing but a werewolf with no wolf. “Well? Are you envious? Alaric made this for me.” She smiled smugly as she shot me a provocative look. The disgusting look on her face made my heart burn with anger, but I suppressed it and remained calm. A while later, the servants left the room, leaving just the two of us behind.
