At the end of the hall, a door sat slightly ajar. I pushed it open… and froze. The room was filled with portraits of me. Me dancing on stage. Me reading quietly in the library. Me sitting alone on a park bench, lost in thought. Every angle of me, every moment… Jordan had captured in painstaking detail. I stepped closer to one painting. That was seventeen-year-old me in mid-dance, skirt flying, laughter radiant. In the corner, there was a line of tiny words that read: My rose has finally come to me.

"She deserved it! She was so terrified with the rabid dogs barking all around her, even sending a voice message where she was crying so pathetically!" Hearing that, my departed soul turned away, smiling miserably. He was the one who had said he loved me, promising to protect me for the rest of my life and vowing that no one would get to lay a finger on me. He had smiled at me so lovingly when he passed me the black rose seeds. "It is believed that black roses embody a deep and timeless love, just like the love I share with you." Yet, he had a change of heart and loved Lara instead, believing her one-sided claims that I had led a workplace ostracising campaign against her.

They had the same sharp face, her smile seemed to be like the way Scarlet smiled. We made our way to the game section, and I chose the scariest game available. Scarlet had always loved a good scare, claiming nothing frightened her. I gave Arabella a quick kiss on the cheek, a habit from my time with Scarlet, and wrapped my arms around her waist. “Good luck, baby,” I whispered. Arabella shifted uncomfortably as she wasn't used to it, she put on the game mask. As soon as the game started, she screamed and yanked off the virtual reality headset.

My heart was beating so fast I was sure they could hear it over the low thrum of music. "Gentlemen," Lorenzo began, his voice carrying that smooth authority that made people listen whether they wanted to or not. "I'd like you to meet Ellie Knight." He paused, and I felt his eyes on me even though I was staring at my hands folded in my lap. "She's officially a Black Rose now, under our protection." The words settled over the table like a heavy blanket. I didn't know what being a Black Rose meant, but from the way the three strangers straightened in their seats, it was clearly something significant. Something that changed how they looked at me.

I kicked off the designer shoes he’d bought for some gala I never wanted to go to. “Go on,” I challenged, my voice rising. “I’m sure you remember this dress. You bought this for me, too. There. Take it all.” I stood there, feeling exposed but more powerful than I had in years. I wasn't his Luna. I wasn't his wife. I was just Arabella. “I’m not your wife anymore,” I whispered, the realization finally hitting me. I looked down at my hand. The ring. The diamond was huge and heavy and felt like a shackle. I twisted it off, my skin raw from how hard I pulled. I threw it at his feet.

Aruba laughed at that, as did Thalia. “You two always bully me,” said Rosette, pouting. “Three, Rosette. Meet Aruba Lynn, the new addition to Rozelyn’s fan club.” Rosette rolled her eyes but the grin on her face was still visible.

Lucas orders gaining a nod of agreement from everyone. As usual, Bella was dressed in her black top and rugged pants. Though the leather jacket she now wore was black, a contrast to the usual red she wore. Her brown locks were secured in a ponytail, an earpiece being in her ear. Strapped on her back was her AR-15 rifle. A pistol and a set of knives placed securely in her holsters. "Ready?" Harriot, the man Bella had tasked to lower her down with a rope, asked. "Yeah." She responded, as the man slowly lowered the rope. After a couple seconds, the tips of Bella's feet reached the ground. She gave the rope a tug, signaling Harriot that she had reached the floor.

"Your drink is ready, sir." The woman with long black hair gave the customer a glass of bluish green drink. The man reached out to take the drinks. Then took a slow sip of the cocktail, feeling a chill creeping through his throat. "This is amazing," said the customer to the bartender earlier. "I told you, didn't I?" The woman smiled. "Bella! Make some of your newest cocktail many of our customers like it," said the short-haired woman. Yes. The girl with long back hair was Arabella, or usually called Bella. Bella has beautiful eyes when you look at her, her skin is white and smooth like most women in general.
