Instead, he sat back in his chair, sipping his wine like a man about to drop a grenade at a peace talk. Then he smiled. That same fake, smug, I-know-something-you-don’t kind of smile. “His name is Viktor.” I froze. The same was oddly familiar “Viktor?” I repeated. “Who’s…” And then it hit me. I know a Viktor but…. That can't be possible. It can't possibly be him…right? Alaric’s grin widened. “Yes. Your Viktor. Your old best friend. Former beta of your pack. Ring a bell?”

She took out a gun and aimed it at his head. She was about to pull the trigger when a flash of purple whizzed past her and she doubled over to the ground. "Violet!" the scarlet speedster spoke as the other speedster was then standing next to him and helping him up. Violet and Crimson—the two speedsters that Carol had identified back at Carter•Labs and it turned out that the speedster killer had caught up to them. "I'm guessing the plutonium's safe since we are all still standing?" said Crimson to Violet.

"What is it, Nabitha? What did you want to discuss?" I approached him slowly, a predatory smile spreading across my face. "Victor, we hold a secret that can change everything. Don't you think that his Xav Macrony is none other than the Lycan King Xavier, the husband to my biggest rival and also my sweet sister Uriah. Or I'm just making things up." Victor's eyes widened with disbelief and realization. "Lycan King Xavier ? The one we thought is back in his pack? I don't think that's possible”

Hector says as he holds him by the arm. The man looks down at his arm, making Hector retreat his hand quickly. "My name is Hunter Black. Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack of the North. You enslaved my sister. I am only here to take her back. Your death and the downfall of your pack are not of my concern." he says, making Alpha Hector DiMarco's eyes widen in shock.

I turned toward his voice and he was leaning in the doorway, tall and cold, muscled arms crossed over his chest and for once he wore a shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing his tattoos. “You should be doing homework or work on your knife skills,” he said, pushing off the wall and striding toward us. Tristan jutted his chin out, but he didn’t protest. “Bye, Aria,” he muttered before he walked out of the French doors. Viktor propped his hip up against the piano as he always did, and my eyes took in the way his pants accentuated his muscled legs, the way his shirt clung to his torso. “And am I being nice to you?”

“I’m confident you will recover from the Alpha’s thrall by this evening,” Oh shit. She knew exactly what had happened between me and Jacob. Well, Mellisandrei is an expert on this one so it’s not shocking. I remember Jacob telling me that he asked Mdllisandrei’s opinion and expertise, so I assume he told her the reason why I’m temporarily paralyzed. “Don’t be shy. It’s normal for a virgin like you to feel that.” Mellisandrei murmured. She noticed the heat rushing to my cheeks and kept her voice so low it barely carried across the space.

"Your father is about to take the stage." The massive braziers surrounding the central platform dim, leaving only a pale beam of silver light cutting through the grand chamber. Magnus Andersen steps into the light, his grand cello rested between his knees, the polished wood reflecting the moonbeams. The entire assembly of pack elders and warriors goes dead silent. He wears the formal leather and silver armor of the Andersen Silverclaw Royal Pack, the neck left bare to show his dark Alpha mark. My breath catches in my throat. Even after all these years, after every battle we fought to secure our place at the head of the Great Packs, the sight of him undoes me completely.

“A woman who has chosen hiding rather than family, you came to play the good guy?” “No.” I tilted my head. “I came to warn you.” His wolf bristled. “About what?” “You’re playing a cold game,” I whispered, stopping his wolf with a flick of my finger. “And you’re losing. You are just failing to see it.” The silence that followed was thick, suffocating even for them. Lorenzo’s voice dropped, dangerous. “To who?” “Xavier Blackthorn.” I locked eyes with him. “And Valerie. The Luna you’re underestimating more than anyone. The weak pawn that you think you can play.”
