My parents are practical people, and my siblings would only make a joke of it. I set my glass on my nightstand and then lay across my bed on my back. Although no candle is burning, there's a perpetual smell in the air — maple, pumpkin, sandalwood — melted into the walls to soothe me but now burning my nose. I lift to open the window but pause. His room. The window was cracked open, just like always. The polished gold rods beneath it gleamed like something out of a fairytale, elegant, useless, and exactly what I needed, fancy and utterly impractical for security. But perfect for girls in love. But when I peered into his window, my smile died.

He crossed the distance between the cars in eight long steps. Zoya’s window slid down. She looked up at him, taking in whatever was raw and exposed in his face right now. She didn't look surprised. Another door sits at the end of the room and he leads me to it. As I step through the door, I find myself in a bedroom. There’s a huge window sitting at the end of the room. I am instantly drawn to it. As I look outside it, I am surprised. It looks different outside from here. The sky is clear and there are leaves on the trees outside. Some birds fly by the window as the sun shines lazily in the sky. The snow is glistering in the sunlight. The whole scenery looks different. It looks like a different place than what I have actually seen outside.

As Dahlia storms into the room, she screams, “How the hell have you been talking to people?” I laugh, “Nobody has been here. I talk to people in my sleep. Why?” She looks out the window and stops in her tracks. She is captivated by whatever memory she is seeing now. I look at all my siblings, and they are slightly smiling at me, knowing what the window is doing. I sit in my spot, on the floor, and wait as she continues looking out that window. Taylor, who is seated on the floor right next to the window, is watching Dahlia intently. Taylor looks at me, holds a finger to her eye and traces a line down her cheek to tell me that she is crying. I nod in understanding.

Atlas said, both he and Aria staring at me. They both stared at me like I was overthinking things and then I thought that maybe I was. Nodding my head at them, I gave the window one last look before we started running once more. He was right. Greta didn't have the power to do that, I was just overthinking things. We had just ran for a few minutes when we came across the window once more, making me stop in my tracks. “It's still here Atlas,” I cried as I stared at the window in horror.

Aria’s POV Morning light crept through the curtains, warm but sharp, like golden claws brushing against my eyelids. A cool breeze drifted into the room, carrying the earthy scent of pine and the faint musk of wolves patrolling somewhere beyond the villa grounds. I groaned softly and lifted a hand to rub my temples. A dull throb pulsed behind my eyes. It was leftover stress from last night’s mess with Nathan. Then it struck me. The window… Right. I’d been so upset that I hadn’t even bothered closing it.

Hermosa's POV I leaned my head against the cool glass of the window, watching the trees blur into a dark smudge against the horizon. My arm throbbed where the needle had pierced me—a dull reminder of the life I’d just drained out of myself for people who looked at me like a meal.
