Snow buried the peaks in thick white layers. They circled for a long time before finally descending toward a massive structure built straight into the mountainside. Hayley jumped out as soon as they landed. She had finally reached Ark Three. Ark One sat on open plains. Ark Two rose from the desert. Ark Three hid among the mountains. She looked up at the towering base carved into stone, then glanced at the outer perimeter fence. Beyond it was nothing but a bottomless drop. All the Ark bases had good locations. They were remote and easy to defend.
