Epilogue (Seven years later) “Look here kids, Santa is going to come here, so behave properly then only you all going to get your gifts,” Ashley said to all the kids gathered in the living space. The big tall Christmas tree is placed at the corner along with all the other decorations made the house so vibrant that Christmas eve. The snow is falling outside and the Christmas lights made the house bright that evening. Hector and Ashley had invited their close family to celebrate in their home and here all are present.

The downtown area was similar to a lot of the towns Dak had visited recently, looking for the perfect place to start his new endeavor, but there was something slightly different about Christmas Falls, something special he couldn’t quite put his finger on. The Christmas decorations hanging from the lamp posts and strung around the trees were the same white lights, red bows, garland, and cartoony characters as everywhere else, seasonal flowers blooming from the flower beds while banners announced where he was and that he was welcome there, but an excitement seemed to hang in the air that he could only describe as a certain kind of Christmas magic he couldn’t ever remember encountering before.

The air was cold but pleasant, with the smell of burning wood from the indoor fireplace and the distant sound of children’s laughter. Zion pulled me onto his lap, burying his face in my neck. Her eyes flashed with a grief I didn’t understand. “It’s time,” she said softly, “you learned the truth about our family… and about Him.” The voices outside grew louder. A chorus of whispers. "We have waffles. Eggs. Bacon. Fruit. And hot chocolate because the guy downstairs said it's Christmas and the rules don't count." Malaya squealed. Judy's eyes widened on the screen. "Jordan Hall," she said, the stern mom tone trying and failing to hide her happiness. "You got something to say to your mother?" Jordan's throat tightened. "Hey, Mom." "Merry Christmas," Judy said, softer. "Merry Christmas," Jordan echoed. Jerry pointed a finger like a warning. "Don't drop the tray, son." Jordan laughed. "Yes, sir." Malaya ended the call with a bright, "Love you!" and clapped as if she'd completed a mission.

Alaric asked flatly. “It was festive,” Alex defended. “It was fragile,” Denise corrected. Zendaya raised her phone. “For documentation purposes.” “Delete it,” Alaric said immediately. “No,” she replied just as quickly. I stepped into the middle of the room and picked up a piece of torn wrapping paper. “It’s Christmas,” I announced. “No one is getting arrested.” Malik grinned. “She understands me.” “I didn’t say that.” Ava came down the hallway carrying more gift boxes. “Are we opening the rest or are the toddlers in timeout?”

Rocking on her toes, she whispered, “Merry Christmas, I guess.” “One more day, but yeah…” I dumped the sweater somewhere and lifted her. Her legs wound around my waist. I tugged her hair out of its knot, and she smiled sheepishly. Her smile elicited one from me. I palmed her cheek and murmured against her jaw, “Merry Christmas, love.” Her arms slid down my back, and her fingertips dug into my skin. I shouldn’t have worn a shirt. “Do werewolves celebrate Christmas and maybe other holidays?”

That very day we ordered our second Christmas miracle. END
