Ivy said walking up to Lex and taking his arm in hers smiling mischievously. I hadn’t really watched many movies growing up but that didn’t sound to bad I thought. “How about the marvel movies?” Lex said excitedly. “I’ve never seen that, but I’ll watch them I don’t mind, whatever you guys want.” I said happily as Felix took my hand in his and Axel in the other. I was just happy to be here with my friends, plus a movie night didn’t sound to bad, their mother was hell bent on making everything a surprise for tomorrow being Christmas.

“Piper, I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life making it up to you. Will you marry me?” I stare at him, stunned, before a bitter laugh escapes my lips. “You really think a ring fixes everything?” “Say yes, Piper,” he pleads desperately. “Let’s have the Christmas wedding you always dreamed of.” His audacity is something that should be studied, and all I can think about is how he truly puts the "EX" in Xmas.

He had impatiently replied, "Why should we celebrate Christmas too? You're so ridiculous." I admit that I had been gaslit at the time, especially after I had just seen the luxury jewelry set worth over nine million dollars in his suit pocket. But now, Melissa was wearing that exact same jewelry set. At my silence, Yves climbed into bed and wrapped his arms around me, pressing his lips against mine.

I don’t even know why I’m getting so mopey when I’ve been trying my best to block Xavier’s unrelenting presence off of my mind. It was just a few hours left before Christmas and this year, one thing is for sure, I’m not much excited as I was last year or the year before that and the year before that year. Usually, I’m the most excited during this day but now, things are changing. One part of it was all because I still couldn’t get over Xavier but also, the other part of it was me getting older. Christmas used to be so fun and lively and it’s that time of the year were everyone’s just want to give you something special. Most of the time, my parents always buy me something nice and expensive.

I shifted a sly glance at Jeanne, who gave me back a confused look. "You can have your annulment," I began, and the man let out a sigh of relief, "But not until the third of January." He froze, "Excuse me?" "Well, the thing is, I need a husband for Christmas," I winced at the look on his face, "And New year." "Not interested." He deadpanned. "And you already happen to be my husband," I braved on. "Not for much longer." "You won't have to do anything. Just show up for a few days, and wear a smile. Or not. Christmas in my hometown is amazing and I promise you won't regret it." I said with a hopeful smile.

"You shouldn't. Lana is absolutely fine, nothing is going to happen to her so stop worrying dear" "I hope so. When is her Christmas party coming up" "Its on the 25th by 12 noon" First lady Samantha said, giving her husband a gentle smile. "I'll have to double the security at the venue, I wouldn't want there to be any trouble" "There won't be any problem Freddie, you worry too much" "She's our only child Sam, I've got to protect her with everything I have" the President said, lightly tapping his fingers on the table.

Larry muttered in a drunken tone. "Hey, shoeshiner! Get out of here! You're polluting the air!" Xavier said in front of his mother. "Oh, yeah? You are all insecure because you may have the money, but you don't have the brain. You bully kids that are better that are better than you, because you envy them! You want to destroy them so no one will be better than you are!"

I said, even if the thought made my jaw tight for reasons I refused to examine. "I hope so. Anyway, we're coming up on the 18th. I'm bringing Jason, maybe. And Melissa might come for a few days. Is that cool?" "More than cool. I'll make sure the house is ready." "You're the best, Dad. Oh, and fair warning, Maya's been super nervous about this trip. She doesn't have any family, really. Her dad left when she was a kid. So Christmas is always hard for her." Her dad left. The information landed in my chest like a weight.

Christmas, Yule, Chanukah, Saturnalia - haven't you ever noticed that almost every culture has some kind of celebration at this time of year? No matter what you call it, it's a time with a pretty deep resonance in the human psyche. In fact, today is the actual solstice, which is the even older holiday. Could be we got zapped here today because this is the most magical day of the year."

Suddenly there's a loud voice from his side and I looked at the screen raising my eyebrows. "Sorry.. Watching the new trailer of Spiderman" "Already out? I need to watch it too" I said excitedly. "I'll share the screen with you.. wait! Let's watch it together" He said and I waited for him to share his screen with me. I looked at the screen and it's on.. We watched the Spiderman trailer together and damn! The new guy is dang hottie.. "I want to watch it so bad" "Do you like Marvel?" He asked.
