The gesture was so tender, so quintessentially Oscar, that it nearly undid me. "What did you do?" he asked, his tone a mixture of curiosity and concern. I pulled back slightly, meeting his deep brown eyes. They were tired but full of life, that familiar enigmatic glint slowly returning. A small smile tugged at my lips as I considered how to explain. "I wasn’t strong enough to do it, but Artemis…" I began, my voice soft. "She gave some of her own power, her own life, to wake up Dionysus. To help him wake you up."

“Now.” Lucian hovered nearby, eyes wide. “Did Artie do something bad?” “No,” I said quickly, pressing a kiss to Artemis’s hair. “Never bad.” But worry clawed at my chest all the same. That night, Artemis burned with a low fever, crescent energy fluttering beneath her skin like trapped starlight. I sat by her bed, refusing to leave even when Ronan tried to coax me away to eat, to rest. “She’s Moonborn,” he reminded me gently. “Different doesn’t mean doomed.”

"Aeson is feeling a bit cooped up as well." Artemis erupted into such ecstatic celebration that I was genuinely surprised the others couldn't hear her. She bounded through my consciousness, projecting a stream of images so rapidly I could barely process them—running through moonlit forests, playing in mountain streams, hunting side by side with a powerful Lycan form that could only be Aeson. ‘YES!’ she howled. ‘Yes, yes, YES!’ I felt a gentle pressure against my mind—Elijah initiating a mindlink. I opened to it, grateful for the momentary refuge from Artemis's enthusiasm.

"Seriously? I thought I was dead, but, this joke is way too funny. Zeus? You're Zeus?" A woman who hadn't spoken since walked towards me, she wore a white lace dress and her eyes were silver? Her hair an inky black. Her skin pale beige, like the rest of them. "I'll take it from here, father." Her marvelous voice held secrets untold. He nodded and moved back. "Hi, I'm Artemis. I know this is hard to believe, but, you're not dead. And like he said, he's Zeus. And that's his wife, Hera, and his brother, Poseidon." She said, pointing at the woman, and the huge man–guy sitting on the king sized bed.

This recognition led Artemis to hire a tutor for him, a learned man named Demetrius, who was to provide Alcides with a well-rounded education. Demetrius, a patient and erudite teacher, introduced Alcides to the world of literature, mathematics, philosophy, and history. He discovered that Alcides had a hunger for knowledge that rivaled his thirst for combat. Alcides devoured books, absorbing the wisdom contained within their pages. He was particularly drawn to stories of legendary heroes and epic battles, inspiring him to dream of greatness beyond the arena.

With one last kiss to the baby's forehead, Artemis allowed the nurses and the baby's father to return into the room, as she was as ready as she ever could be to ascend back to her rightful place in Mount Olympus. "Selena my darling, isn't she beautiful? She looks like a little Angel." Ricky, her (Selena is Artemis' human name) one true love, exclaimed excitedly and then kissed her softly on the lips. "She is. Phoebe Selena Aisha Johnson. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?" She hums back in response. "Definitely. Thank you so much my love, you will be the perfect mother to my children and our baby. Three girls eh? I can just imagine you in a magnificent white dress, with our girls in..."

She started repeating each sentence as if she were in a trance. I almost felt a little bad for her, until she abruptly started laughing like a mad woman. “No one can save me now.” “Accept it. You have lost.” Hunter stepped forward. “You will spend a hundred years here to pay for your actions. Hopefully, after you are reformed, you won’t make the same mistakes.” “I lost?” Artemis’s head tilted to the side and her eyes became wild as she snapped her eyes up. “No. I haven’t lost. You lost. I am Artemis, the Goddess of War. No one can defeat me!”

he let out honestly. "Demigods are not servants to gods. They are loyalists" she retorted once again. "The only reason you are bent on knowing my secrets is, you want to use it against me. And that's a great mistake on your part. Because gods are invincible" she seemed provoked. "Why would I want to use your secret against you?" he shook his head. "Because Alpha Jones had brainwashed you and the others. He has made you believe he is the one keeping this life together" she fumed and hit the chair she stood up from.

“Mother…” I blink, trying to get up, wanting to greet her. To apologize to her for what I did. For what I put her through. “Asterion!” a chorus of voices shout my name as Demoleon, Amphidocus, and even Porphyrion rush to try and keep me from getting up. “No, moving.” Eurymedusa commands as she and the girls all watch me with worried looks. Shit, even Eurymedusa is worried. This doesn’t bode well.

I whispered, and my tears began to fall. “I know… I know, my child, but I’m still here. I’ll help you, and I won’t leave you. Please, Athena, don’t give up—at least for the sake of your future child,” she said, making me release the rope I was holding. I’m such a horrible person. What have I done?
