I whispered. Atlas nodded slowly. The heat in his eyes sharpened, dropping to my mouth. He looked hungry. "And that was it," he murmured, his voice rasping. "I don’t take advantage of girls who are tripping on drugs. But..." His gaze grew heavy. "I’m not above helping you with the heat." "Hallucinating..." I breathed. The word felt like a ghost on my tongue, but it brought a strange peace. "I’m glad you told me that."

He made another two shots. When the first bullet was about to hit Bianca, another bead on her bracelet exploded. A green energy appeared in front of Bianca and formed into a green shield to block the bullet. The second bullet bounced back and hit Atlas between the eyes. Atlas’ eyes widened as he fell backward. He began bleeding between his eyes. Even at the brink of his death, he had no idea what that green shield was. It was powerful enough to stop bullets and even managed to bounce one back to kill him.

A sly smile spreads across his lips, which makes me think he knew all along I'd notice his presence. I lean against the wall and copy his movements by crossing my arms in front of my chest and scoff. "I'm Lenox; I know shit." Sure, my response doesn't explain even a single bit, but it's not like I really have to explain myself. Being a freak of nature comes with perks, one of them is that I can find my family whenever I want to. Atlas is unique; he has the ability to track down our bloodline, even the tiniest drop of blood. All I have to do is ask him where one of my family members is, and he will draw up an imaginary map in my mind and point out the precise location of whomever I'm looking

But none of that affected Naomi upstairs. Atlas woke up at 2 a.m. He opened his eyes, still dazed by the sight in front of him. He didn’t panic. Instead, he replayed everything in his mind. He was being hunted. He jumped off a cliff, thinking he could escape through the river. But luck wasn’t on his side—a tree broke his fall. He passed out from blood loss. Right before falling, he thought he saw a helicopter—probably Shadow Blade’s crew. That’s how he got saved.

I finally find my voice to shout at him. “Yes!” He screams back. “For the time being, both you and Lenox are a danger to the life of your daughter, God damn it! Atlas is a blood-thirsty hellcat, the last of his kind, and the only reason why his species didn’t survive is because the fathers ate their offspring! And you? Think you are innocent? The leech you befriended can take over, it can shut you out and you won’t even remember anything it makes you do! Do you remember how you tried to kill Ophelia?”

He's acting as if someone is watching him, but that would be impossible considering he's never been here before. "Are you okay?" I decide to ask to hopefully take his mind off whatever is bothering him. "Yeah," He mutters, "Of course I am." I think back to the interaction he just had with Eddie, "Do you know Eddie? He seems to think he's seen you somewhere before." Atlas shrugs, sipping on his drink, "Maybe he's seen my face on a billboard for EarthX. I do have a lot of those on the East Coast." I nod my head, "That makes sense. But are you sure you're okay? You seem jittery and nervous."

I want to know though. Atlas entered the chamber with warm water in a wooden basin and cotton cloth. She didn't say a word while making sure that there was enough warmth and enough herbs to put in the bite. After she cleaned it, she rubbed some ointment on the wound and it healed. She gently caressed her thumb on my pulse. Hastily, I pulled it back from her. "Are you scared of me now, Sol?" I stared at her, not knowing what to answer. Am I supposed to say that I'm not scared even though my body reacted in a different way? He bit me. He was a vampire. And Atlas is one of them too. I don't know...

Scarlett was the one she said was in her way, while Atlas was in Atlene's definitely. Atlene hears movement in the forest, and immediately jumps out of the water: his eyes red from all exposure to the water, his mind alert, and his body poised to fight vigorously to the death. Atlene swims to the shore in order to at least be dressed while fighting the approaching battalion in his head.

Her eyes are red and puffy, her face drawn. “Just a minute. Let me get a doctor.” Her eyes glaze over as she links someone. I look around. I’m in the hospital. Why? And then it all comes rushing back. The conference in Yellowstone, rushing back for Zahra’s birthday, and watching her collapse. “Where’s Zahra? Is she all right?” Atlas leaps to his feet. 'Yes. Yes, find her. Find mate.' Wait, what? 'Mate?' 'Yes. Mate,' he says with a yip.

Devlen, Case, Elias, and Jameson represented the bears of Montana. “Atlas,” Devlen spoke in his growling voice. Atlas inclined his head in a small bow to each of them. The four shifters all wore bear skins. “Thank you for seeing me,” he said. “I am here to plead before the council. I would like to find a human mate. Clearly, Serenity and I were not a match, and this resulted in her death.” “I believe, Atlas, that you’ve mated with a human before coming here to get our approval.”
