My name is Emma and I'm what they call a nerd. Not only that I have multiple nicknames like fathead, uglyface, the list is endless. Summer is finally over meaning it's back to school well for me more like I'm going to hell, you see I've always been bullied. It started of being an emotional thing but then they started bullying me physically, shoved me against the lockers, some girls actually slap me but I don't do anything I just walk away.

Medium and very handy household chores in which doesn't even require them to tire themselves most of the time. "Thank you, Nic. I'm really wondering sometimes where did you take after. Aside from sleeping all day, reading boring books you're also considerate. Unlike these two idiots," I said while pointing the two who's chewing their food. Nicolai is a nerd. Thank god, he's handsome and that makes him achieve the enigmatic mafia student type of handsome. He's quiet most of the time like Shein but the difference is, he always looked fresh while Shein on the other hand. Well, she always looked plain.

“Don’t you think it is too early in the school year to start harassing women?” I looked towards the source of the sound and I saw an attractive young man standing there. There was something familiar about his features but I couldn’t quite place my finger on it. He was standing tall with a lean body and he had round glasses resting on his nose. He looked the typical part of a nerd and I feared they would turn their attention on him but instead they grumbled under their breaths and stepped away from me.

“Doesn’t matter. But Lena’s different—she’s a nerd, right? A super hot nerd, but still a total nerd all the same. So…” “So what the fuck do nerds like?” I scratched the back of my head, swearing under my breath. I wasn’t good at this romance shit. It felt foreign and hard, my mind racing through her colour-coded notes, the books, how way she reorganised my shelves, muttering about reports and deadlines and whatever the fuck. “Great question. Have fun figuring that one out on your own.” I started to walk away. “Sure. Thanks for the half-assed advice, man.”

“Usually the guys would be all over me, and if they aren’t it didn’t matter, I moved on fast, but something about this one… I cannot get him off my mind, I cannot stop thinking about him.” “Regina…” she says in her warning tone. “No, no, this one is different, I am not in love with him, I am just severely attracted to him.” “Severely?” I hear the relief and laugh in her voice. I exhale, running my hands through my hair and I wish it were his hands instead of mine, seriously I need help. “Very severe. He isn’t even my type, he is a really shy nerd, you need to see the piles of comics he has in his home.”

They get sucked into the meandering crowd of chaotic travelers, chunky lady in hot pursuit, leaving me straight in the viewpoint of her scanty boyfriend. His face morphs from mild panic to that open-mouthed, cartoon-wolf-in-love look — as if he’s gonna swallow me whole, spit me out to chew me up again. Great. As if my raw nerves aren’t raw enough. The guy looks like your typical nerd – thick glasses, a simple crew sweater over a button-up shirt. To make the look even more official, his mouse-brown hair is combed back in a sleek, wet-look style that went out in the sixties.

As we walk out of my apartment, I notice how my dress accentuates my hips so well yet my hands clutches my purse tightly. Recalling how the guys at school always chuckle and call me “boring, nerdy ass” makes me want to shrink. The only person who cared enough to ask me to prom was none other than nerdy Joe–the guy with huge glasses and a tiny voice–whom I rejected. Not that I'm judging but I'd like to be with someone less nerdy. Someone who's unapologetically hot and adventurous, someone who can seduce me with his voice.

The same bartender nerd with the old cracked phone and glasses that slipped down his nose every five seconds. Two days ago, I’d sworn to myself I wasn’t going to go through with this. No way in hell. Tutors were for people who failed, not for people like me who just... didn’t care. But here I was, staring at a nerd in a white body shirt and black trousers, who looked like he’d been pulled out of one of those “hot nerd makeover” scenes in a rom-com. And damn, did he look good.

He’s dark, dangerous, and devastatingly rugged, with slicked-back dark hair and full, stern lips. It’s Trey Parker. VSU’s powerhouse quarterback. The guy Shawn hates more than anyone else on this planet because he refuses to share the spotlight. Trey is notorious for being cold, keeping entirely to himself, and intimidating anyone who dares get too close. People are genuinely terrified of him. And at the same time, obsessed with him. As I stare at him, a reckless, insane plan starts forming in my head. “What’s up, Goody Two-Shoes?” Chris’s mocking voice calls. “Is your lie starting to catch up with you?”

I wonder why I don’t fancy talking with her. “Mm…there is a different between nerds and charismatic people. Nerds say knowledgeable things whereas charismatic people say the right things which mean they only know answers to please the other party.” He says. I giggle. “Anyway, I don’t judge people by their appearances. I guess what I’m looking for from people is their characters.”
