" I'm twenty-three, some of my mates are married and have even given birth to a cute baby”. " And some of your mates are dead”. Samantha told her. Arianna jumped on the sofa to an upright position. She glared at Samantha” Are you cursing me, Sam?”.

His lips lingered a beat too long. Anna withdrew her hand quickly, smiling nervously. “You just keep getting more beautiful every time I see you,” Ethan said smoothly. “By the time we release your first single, you’ll be the nation’s sweetheart.” Anna forced another small smile, but her nerves spiked. She nearly stumbled when she noticed the woman seated near the booth—a striking music star with half her hair dyed pink, the other half blue. A corset blouse hugged her chest, tucked into a tiny black skirt. She skimmed through a music sheet, legs crossed like she owned the room.

Chapter Fourteen Arthur’s POV Melody charges onto the field with grace and fury. She moves like she owns the ground beneath her feet. Strong, steady, balanced. Her shoulders are squared, her chin lifted, her gaze unwavering. The Melody I remember had a softness to her. A quiet, shy presence that tried to make itself smaller in the shadow of grief. This Melody? She stands like she’s carved from the moon itself. Dane whistles low beside me. “Bloody hell. She’s not playing, is she?”

Melody Gigs fell silent for a moment. She looked into the eyes of the young woman standing before her. They were filled with countless hopes and dreams. Melody didn't want to be the one to extinguish that hope. However, she also couldn't give Ayleen false expectations. With a heavy heart, she finally said, "May I know your name first, Miss?" Ayleen nodded and answered cheerfully, "My name is Ayleen Hazel." Melody smiled as warmly as she could before speaking carefully.

Of course, I am not forgetting about my princess. We dance, talk and laugh with each other without a care in the world. Every time I see her smile, it gives me a calming feeling in my heart. I don't know what she feels about me but I am sure as hell that I will not let this incredible go away from my life. "Can I have your attention, please?" Melody calls out to everyone making us look at her to see that she is standing near a huge cake. She has a microphone in her hands and she tells me and Anhuphama to go near her.

"No, it's not necessary. As Samantha has just passed away, there must be many things that need you to arrange. I don't want you to delay your matters because of me..." Dustin whispered, "Celine, you are always so kind." Celine secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Vicky had been waiting at the door for ages. When she saw Dustin and Celine returning together, she used her freshly manicured nails to scratch Celine's face several times. "Witch!" Vicky was furious, venting her emotions. I did not know if it was my imagination, but Dustin did not seem to protect Celine much at that moment. It was not until Celine cried that he frowned and stopped Vicky.

Sighing, I hold out my hand. She looks strong, reminding me a bit of Charley. Beautiful but tough as nails with skin the color of honeyed amber. Her eyes are a beautiful shade of slate gray, strikingly beautiful on her tan skin. She has long straight black hair, cut short around her ears leaving just enough for a soft curl. When she turns her head, I see a delicate rose tattoo on her neck, spiraling up into her scalp. "Mr. Grant just promoted me to watch the Little Miss," she explains. "My name's Melody, but my street name was Raven. I'm old friends with Sharkey. We were in school together."

“I know.” A few minutes later, the door opened. Melanie entered the room confidently, holding her portfolio. “Good afternoon. I’m Melanie Jack—” Her voice cut off as her eyes met Anne’s. She froze. Shock hit her like a punch to the stomach. Anne leaned back in her chair, every movement deliberate, every breath measured. “Well,” Anne said, voice rich and syrupy. “You must be the last of our models.” Melanie blinked. “I… I didn’t know—”

“Why, what do you want?” Melody found her tone unfriendly, was she also turning on her? No that wasn’t possible, anyone but Anne would turn her back on her at this crucial time. “I… think Ralph wants to ruin me. It’s terrible.” She whispered trying to sound as miserable as possible. Yet Anne sounded as nonchalant as ever. “Well, you can’t step on the tail of a snake and not expect it to bite you.” She casually remarked which brought Melody to her senses, Anne was not on her side.

Melody’s POV At the moment I am in the middle of one of my concerts, doing what I love performing for my adoring fans. Having the time of my life! Enjoying the thrill of performing for my fans and feeding off of their energy. I am singing my last song for tonight. I gotta end this concert on a high note! Smiling widely at the roaring crowd cheering me on, I close my eyes and take a deep breath before beginning the song. Then I slowly raise the mike in my left hand towards my face and start singing with my eyes still closed. Getting lost in the song as I do so.
