Getting Lucky
“But don’t let it intimidate you. You’ve got this, kitten.”
We were met in the lobby by a young man wearing dark blue jeans, a white button-up shirt, and brown cowboy boots. I recognized him from a previous meeting. He was the owner’s son. A few years younger than I was, I knew he didn’t have much say in the company’s investments yet, but in the long term, it would probably be a bad thing if I punched him in the face for the way he stared at Ember.
An unfamiliar feeling a lot like jealously flared in my stomach as I watched him shake her hand, holding it for a second longer than was strictly necessary. “Jack Chernin, Junior. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
