I pointed out which made him look towards me with his thick brows raised. When our eyes met, that connection with him that I longed for was suddenly fulfilled. It sent thuds in my chest and butterflies to fly around my stomach. I caught my breath when he didn’t break the eye contact. I felt like my heart was about to explode and my mind was already screaming. His gaze was intense and I couldn’t believe that he would still be looking at me like that. “You’re right about that,” he mumbled, flitting his eyes down. Gulping, I cleared my throat in awkwardness before looking away from him.

I felt uncomfortable while this was happening because somehow I felt I was being stared. I looked up and saw Adam’s eyes staring towards me without moving. I thought to myself, is he lost in thoughts and doesn’t realise he is looking directly at me. No matter what, I couldn’t ignore it. I can’t be mad about that now that he doesn’t want anything more. I never expected to see him again, and his walking into the hall felt like a sign. I wait… and wait… until the silence stretches, the tension crackles in the air, and the awkwardness becomes stifling, and yet we both stand there in this wordless, weird moment.
