It was a strange kind of fatigue, like my body was working overtime without telling me why.

That night, I woke up with a mild cramp low in my abdomen. Nothing severe, but enough to pull me out of sleep. I lay there for a few minutes, trying to figure out exactly what I was feeling, when Zoey shifted in the bed beside me.
