My truck rumbled to life, and I drove the short distance with the windows cracked, letting the cool breeze cut through the lingering fog in my head. The bakery sat on a quiet corner, painted a soft sage green with white trim. A hand-painted sign swung gently above the door: Sweet Rise Bakery. Through the large front windows I could see glass cases filled with golden croissants, layered cakes, and thick loaves of bread. My stomach twisted again, sharper this time. I pushed the door open, the little bell jingling above me.

"Read. Hurry." June unfolded the paper. Her vision blurred. She expected secret codes—numbers, something cryptic. Instead, she saw her own handwriting, copied from her grandfather’s old notebook. “Three parts winter wheat. Two parts honey from the dark forest. Bake until the sun rises in the east.” She stared at it, blank. "It’s just a bread recipe, Dante! The Black Forest Loaf. My grandfather made it every Christmas!"

When the baking was mostly done a couple of them would open the doors, letting the aroma of the baking waft out to the street and the customers flood in. They passed a few stores selling books, a couple of vendors hawking food, and a small bakery that sold pastries. There was a young man sitting on a bench outside the shop, eating some kind of pastry, while another boy lounged on the grass nearby, reading a book. Most of the teenagers visit the cafe , there are books, perfect music and of course perfect food. they say this is the perfect place to relax. But day by day my schedule is getting hectic. .
