“She won the fight, but he damaged her in ways none of us could imagine.” My eyes widened from the memory. It was six years ago. Everyone waited in line to have a seat inside the wide and shallow arena. Matheos Bluemoon, also known as, ‘The Hybrid Hunter’ almost defeated the rabid Queen, Ahbaya. Every single hybrid, shifter and bear-folks were silenced when he had wounded, bitten and made Ahbaya fall on her knees. It was a bloody battle, but Ahbaya was still the victor.

"Who did this?" It was not loud, yet her voice silenced the courtroom immediately. Yvonne was panicking, but she held it down and spoke up. "Ms. Leidermann, this is my family's af—" "Family affairs?" I yell into Bastian's mind as I slam into Drakon. The crunch of impact is like a loud clap of thunder. Drakon screams when he slams against the tower. I twist and manage to wrap my talons around his throat. He drops the egg in order to defend himself. My wings pump to keep Drakon pinned and a second later, Bastian's whispered, "He's safe," gives me another burst of energy and I tighten my grip.

“Does this mean something?” Edward, who I’ve always viewed as father figure, is now all hunter in his response. “It means that you’re not just any hunter. And that’s as scary as it is promising.” Rion leans in so close his voice is almost private, “There’s a legend that the Orion blades can split in two.” He’s joking, I think—until I flick my wrist, and the blade separates perfectly down the center, each half locking into my hands like twin extensions of my own arms.
