It reflected the way my soul felt, and I hated it.
My hair stuck out over the goose egg, making a weird bump on the back of my head; there were bruises on my ribs, hip, legs, and tailbone. The bruises on my ribs ran around to my back also, and my arms had hand marks. Yellow ones from last week and purple ones from the night before. Scratch the sweater because that’s not going to work. I took my time getting ready. Trying different hairstyles, even ones that pulled at the bump and made it hurt. Nothing worked; it still looked like I had a huge Knot on my head.
