Right in front of me, a snow basilisk was baring its fangs, venom and poison dripping from its jaws.
I flinched at the sight of the green-scaled monster and bolted in the opposite direction, only to realize I couldn’t outrun a reptile that owned this territory. I’d have to zig-zag if I wanted any chance, but that would drain me fast.
Snow basilisks were specially mutated creatures that had adapted to all kinds of environments. This one was a master hunter, with a kill rate around ninety-seven percent. My heart hammered against my ribs. It was big, but only came up to my chest, perfectly suited for this terrain. The thought of their usual massive size made my skin crawl even more.
