But I must say, you have certainly captured our attention." I smiled at that and as the meeting progressed, Thea continued to wear that infuriating smirk on her face. Every time our eyes met, she would raise an eyebrow, silently taunting me. I tried my best to stay focused and confident, but the weight of her gaze made it difficult. The smirk says she wasn't impressed with what she was hearing, as if I was planning nonsense. It felt like hell on earth.

Then, he smirked. The bastard actually smirked. And no, it wasn't those little shy boyish smirks that wannabe thrift-store leather boys wear to look cool. It was a full-blown smirk. Teeth and all. Like he knew something juicy I didn't. My eyes narrowed to slits.

My own included. I bobbed my head, eyes returning to Venner and his smirk. I hated smirkers. There was just something about the expression that drove me so close to the edge I could barely stand it. And while Quaid was an expert and Ram, my demon friend, could pull off a rather impressive show, Venner had centuries to polish his, elevating his smirk to sparkly shine. Oh how I would have loved to rub it in the dirt and see how much stuck. "Mom," I said, not even trying to play nice. "You do know who this is, don't you?"

If he wanted to play dirty I was going to show him that I could too. He rolled his bottom lip between his teeth sinking his teeth into it. A smug, cynical smirk spread across his mangled up face. I cocked my head up at him, "Your face looks better than it did before. You should thank my hero!" I sarcastically beamed mustering one helluva fake smile.

“All this? You mean my jaw-dropping fashion taste?” I smirk faintly. “Well, I can't say jaw-dropping but ... I mean, you don’t dress like the rest of them.” He laughs, his head lolling back. “Fair.” Then his gaze catches mine again, and that smirk returns. “You’ve got beautiful eyes, Betty.” The words land like a whisper, and I forget how to breathe for a second. Then I laugh awkwardly, trying to shake it off. “Thanks, Batman.” He tilts his head back, shaking his head. “You’re never letting that go, are you?”

I taunt, half amused, half shocked. His smirk disappears, his eyes glowing that same deadly silver as he slams his wrist into the frame above my head and glares down at me. “Don’t push me, because I do fucking bite.”

To be honest, he was quite good-looking, and he also looked young but the weird smirk that he had on his face made him look like the joker. As I thought of his resemblance to the fictional character, I had the sudden urge to burst into a peal of laughter and I did. I laughed so hard that I felt tears rolling down my cheeks as I stupidly pointed at the man whose smirk had dissipated. In place of the smirk, he now had an annoyed expression glued to his face. I came down from my crazy laughing bout as I cleaned my tears with my thumb, and directed a gaze at the man. "Care to enlighten me about the cause of your amusement?" He asked, his vexed countenance dissipating.

I don't have friends - I am not sure if that is something that I should be proud of. Well, it's not like I don't try to approach my classmates or try to interact. It’s just that I have a weird smile. No, it's not the type of smile that involves weird and rotten teeth - I have perfectly white and straight teeth. You see, my smile is fatal and dangerous. Just one look at these weapons and even the ferocious growl of a mountain lion would seem harmless. If this were a comic, I would call this attack: The Killer Smile.

I liked the assurance in his voice, his confidence, the fact that he didn’t stutter or pretend not to see me. Most men would have panicked and stammered out apologies. Not Rick. Of course not. When I looked back at him, he was wearing that sly, incredibly sexy smile, and a warm feeling washed over me. “Stop smiling like that,” I said before I could stop myself. “Like what?” he asked innocently. “That,” I replied, pointing an accusing glance at his lips, “that smirk.” He slowly ran his tongue over his lower lip, his smirk deepening. “This one?”
