His smirk turned into a full-blown grin, clearly amused by my irritation. He leaned back in his chair, resting his arms behind his head, a cocky expression on his face. “Very happy,” he said, his tone smug. “Because I want to take you somewhere.”
I crossed my arms and scowled at him, my expression defiant. “And what makes you think I’d go anywhere with you?” I retorted, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
He shrugged, his infuriating smirk never leaving his face. “Oh, I don’t know,” he replied airily. “Maybe because you secretly enjoy my company?”
