Evan and Becky stood at the arbour’s entrance. The light emanating from the portal grew brighter as something moved through the portal itself and materialized there. When the light dimmed, the arbour they now overcrowded it with a black bear standing there on four paws with a knapsack clutched between his teeth. “Gemma, remove the mirror quickly. There’s no room in here for anything else to come through.”

I woke up from the sound of my stomach growling, without a word; I stood up from lying on my bed; my face was a little hurt from the incident earlier when I saw my reflection, a big purple bruise. I sighed and held my cheek, and started to heal myself. My mom and dad were fascinated with my gift for healing, but it wasn't extravagant; like the doctors from our tribe, I could heal simple wounds or, like mine—Bruises.

One discovery had led to another… and then the running had begun. Kael tugged on her sleeve. “Mommy. Look.” He called. He pointed to the carnival game stalls ahead, specifically the brightly colored shooting range lined with stuffed animals. At the very top of the prize shelf sat a giant bear, nearly the size of Kael himself, with a comical pink bow on its ear. “I want the big bear,” he said, a grin finally stretching across his face. Laurel blinked at his request. “Kael…” she started, but her son was not having any of it. He wanted the big bear.

Eve chuckled, "Alright, one more. How about the tale of the adventurous teddy bear?" Lucas, standing in the doorway, raised an eyebrow, "Adventurous teddy bear?" Eve nodded, improvising, "Yes, the teddy bear who explored the world, climbed mountains, and had thrilling teddy bear adventures." Kai's eyes widened with excitement, "Wow, Mommy! Teddy bears can do that?" Eve winked, "Absolutely. And your teddy bear can join in the adventures too." Lucas joined them on the bed, "Looks like our teddy bear is in for some excitement."

Mom laughed, “I was happy to help. I’m just excited for all of this.” After lunch, we helped clean up the kitchen and Sebastian and I went upstairs to our room. We undressed and put on robes, then went outside. I suggested I give him his bear spirit first because I will probably black out when I get my cat spirit. We will be able to run in bear form first. Grandpa Parker pulled into the driveway and I smiled as he announced, “I have been asked to lead Sebastian’s first bear run.” I nodded, then looked at my dad, “Thank you.” Sebastian removed his robe and King Parker asked, “Adele, would you please bite Sebastian?” Sebastian turned to me and bared his neck and I kissed the spot where I would

These are reserved only for our little rag-tag group. When Carson was little his favorite cartoon has something to do with bears, so he just gave me the nickname Moon Bear and called himself Sun Bear. Lachlan became Lock Bear, then Jase became Earth Bear, Arson became Air Bear, and Ransom became Death Bear. Weston came along after Carson's death so I deemed him West Bear.

Well, that proves that time does fly when you have fun. "What's the time?" I hold my phone out to Jake. "It's getting late. We should probably start heading back." I start to walk back to where we came in. At the entrance/exit, the whole group has come together. Tyler calls Jake and we walk to Tyler and Allison. I wonder if Tyler knows that Jake isn't exactly fond of him. "Look what he won for me!" Allison exclaims as she holds out a big teddy bear. Oh, my soul, that is such a cliche.

I pass it over and smile as I watch them both tuck in. Another hour in and just one more to go, Dylan and Cookie are playing some game on Dylan's phone. They seem to get on well. Who knows, maybe they will become good friends one day, like me and Bear and Stan of course. I hope my brother gets that in his life—someone who you know will never turn their back on you. Everyone needs a friend like that, and I'm lucky enough to have the best in both Bear and Stan. It's not long until we pull into our final stop. Bear wakes up with a grunt, and I chuckle as he jumps out. It's incredible what a cat nap can do for those energy levels.

Yup, Nathaniel is Grumpy Bear. Lance then reaches for the box again, which almost causes him to fall off my bed. My heartbeat drops, but I manage to catch him just in time. "Lance, please be careful," I sternly say, but he looks unfazed and reaches for Grumpy Bear instead. I then take out Daydream Bear and hand it to him. "I think this is Alexander." Lance drops Grumpy Bear and hugs Daydream Bear instead. "Alexander gives the best hugs that just make you want to cuddle up with him and fall asleep. That's why I think he's a Daydream Bear."

Everly winks. “Am I finally forgiven?” I ask. “We will see after tonight,” she teases me. “Oh, yeah, exactly what is happening tonight?” I ask, biting the inside of my cheek. “Don’t even pretend like you don’t know,” Ari leans into me. Bear- This is not a dream. Me- How sure are you? Bear- Bite your cheek if it hurts, not a dream. This is not a dream. “You two want to mate and mark each other, take it next door and don’t be late to my daughter’s birthday party,” Finley orders. “We will take Monty tonight.”
