I couldn't help but answer honestly. "I do." "Then wait." My heart was dancing and beating wildly. I sat beside Benjamin, just watching him play. How could someone be so handsome and so kind at the same time? My heart was skipping beats. After two hours, we had caught forty bears. But since it took a hundred small bears to exchange for the big one, and we couldn't stay there forever, Benjamin pulled out his wallet and bought the big bear for me. I think its name was Ton Ton. I hugged the giant navy blue bear happily. Benjamin got back on the bike and took me somewhere else. I saw the clock was already eight, so I said softly to Benjamin.

“Gunner will take you home. We will all see you Saturday, tomorrow night.” Bear says ‘all’ like he is making Dante realise he has to come as well. “You don’t have to. Isn’t the party just so you can meet my family and them hand me over? Just send a car to collect me.” I won’t fight, this is set, but I will get answers from my mother and from Jamie. I will find my freedom in my own way. “Not a chance. It would be rude and ignorant to ignore the party and just send a car. But, on the other hand, it will be good to see your city again, for Dante, that is. He hasn’t left our city for years.” Bear laughs, looking at him.

Evan and Becky stood at the arbour’s entrance. The light emanating from the portal grew brighter as something moved through the portal itself and materialized there. When the light dimmed, the arbour they now overcrowded it with a black bear standing there on four paws with a knapsack clutched between his teeth. “Gemma, remove the mirror quickly. There’s no room in here for anything else to come through.”

I woke up from the sound of my stomach growling, without a word; I stood up from lying on my bed; my face was a little hurt from the incident earlier when I saw my reflection, a big purple bruise. I sighed and held my cheek, and started to heal myself. My mom and dad were fascinated with my gift for healing, but it wasn't extravagant; like the doctors from our tribe, I could heal simple wounds or, like mine—Bruises.

“You know after your night with Dalton, I was the first one he ran to. He had to ‘Apologize’, but neither of us understood why until my birthday.” “Bears have favorite mates, Dalton is fun but not a favorite. Not like Peter and Carrie, they are so in love. I think their humans are in love, so their bears said, ‘cool’ and go with it.” “It is strange to see a married bear couple,” Mom tells us. “Yeah my mom was really thrown when they got married. Carrie wished she knew who her father was. Peter walked with her down the aisle.” Crystal chuckles. “These girls won’t have to worry about that. Their father will be more than happy to walk them down the aisle,” Mom smiles.

Well, that proves that time does fly when you have fun. "What's the time?" I hold my phone out to Jake. "It's getting late. We should probably start heading back." I start to walk back to where we came in. At the entrance/exit, the whole group has come together. Tyler calls Jake and we walk to Tyler and Allison. I wonder if Tyler knows that Jake isn't exactly fond of him. "Look what he won for me!" Allison exclaims as she holds out a big teddy bear. Oh, my soul, that is such a cliche.

They don't prey on the innocent. The longer she's in the room with us, the more I can see her relax; I smile as I watch her chatting with Bear; I can tell he likes her. Bear has always been good at picking out people's personalities, and if he doesn't like you, he won't try to hide it. He will tell you to your face. Some of his team head outside to hunt, leaving just five of us in the room; I pull out a couple of beer bottles handing them around; Bear opens his with his hands, usually his party trick, only this time he catches his skin on the sharp edge of the metal lid.

Yup, Nathaniel is Grumpy Bear. Lance then reaches for the box again, which almost causes him to fall off my bed. My heartbeat drops, but I manage to catch him just in time. "Lance, please be careful," I sternly say, but he looks unfazed and reaches for Grumpy Bear instead. I then take out Daydream Bear and hand it to him. "I think this is Alexander." Lance drops Grumpy Bear and hugs Daydream Bear instead. "Alexander gives the best hugs that just make you want to cuddle up with him and fall asleep. That's why I think he's a Daydream Bear."

"Its okay, Carla. They're just trying to stay safe. They don't know if they can trust us yet or not." "Just because they're trying to stay safe doesn't mean you need to move any closer." Bear looks at Ryder again. Before he can speak, Todd interrupts. "What kind of name is 'Bear'?" he asks with a snort. "Watch your attitude," Carla says with a glare that could stop a wild animal in its tracks. "Is it because he's as large as a bear?" I ask, eyeing him with interest. "No, it's because of his cuddly disposition," Carla snaps, eyes narrowing. "He's a real teddy bear," she adds sarcastically. Her beautiful face is turned up in a sneer and it isn't so beautiful anymore.

“When is the next teach—” “In two weeks,” Hannah quickly interjects. "YES!" Brent shouts from next to us. "That last party was amazing. Remember the tree?" Everyone laughs, recalling the bet we had—whoever could climb to the top wouldn’t have to do homework for a month. We would do that person’s homework without a single mistake. “I remember! Remember how surprised Miss Walker was with my answers?!” Adam laughs, having won that competition. “Are we all sleeping in your bed again?” Brent yells a bit too loudly. “We can play truth or dare again!” Brian laughs as he throws a ball through the bus like an overly excited child.
