By the time he finally pulled, I couldn't breathe properly, his lips were swollen, his eyes boring into that of mine like the beast he is, then a slow smirk curved his mouth. “Your voice…” he murmured, thumb brushing my lower lip. “I love hearing it. I wonder how your moaning will sound in my ear.” I jerked my face away, cheeks burning. “Stop… it.” But it felt like that irritated him, he yanked me back against him, voice dropping to a whisper. “I am not a monster,” he said. “I am a beast.” That was when I realized those eyes weren’t Knight’s, so it was his beast all along.

It was Tristan, his eyes wide with a mixture of disbelief and determination. The gunshot rang out, and I watched in horror as Tristan’s body jerked forward, a crimson color staining his chest. The deafening sound of the gunshot was replaced by a sickening thud as Tristan’s body collided with mine. Pain radiated through my abdomen as I stumbled back, Tristan’s blood staining my clothes. He collapsed to the ground, a look of sheer determination etched on his face.

I slam the door behind me, leaving Terris inside. Ambling downstairs, I find the beast lounging on the settee with his eyes closed, too calm for my liking, like a lion ready to strike.
