Mrs. Evans just chuckled at him and tapped his shoulder. “Nothing.” In snap she changed her smile into a serious face and whispered, “I don’t want to see you talking to that guy ever again. You cannot befriend Finn and Boone. You understand?” I was stunned by her. How can someone change facial expression in just a span of seconds? From being so sweet and caring, the motherly vibe turns into a vicious villain that drags out the book. Just watching her talked to Henrick already scared the shit out of me.

It was perfect. Baron had this in his mansion? I walked through the garden running my hands through the flowers, feeling the wind on my face and the sun shine brightly on me. I felt alive and free. I sat down and spotted something hopping around. I looked closer and saw that it was a bunny. I gestured for it to come closer and it did. I carried it up and placed it on my lap, gently stroking its soft white fur. It looked like a mythical creature with its big beady eyes and small nose.

The Beast yielded to the wolf when we met the others she paused and stood tall. Beau wast the first to greet her, rubbing along her side, cheek to hip. She held her head up before nipping at his tail. He bounded at her but she was already crashing into the fray with the boys who bared their necks and licked her face. She and sauntered away as we all followed. Our Luna took us on the last hour of our run and when sunrise crested the woman who I knew emerged and wavered. I caught her in my arms and Beau dashed for a bag he had packed just in case. And we wrapped a shirt around her Beau buttoning it with careful fingers as he watched her face. She was alert but weightless at the same time. I s

"It eats the life!" The Beast turned. It saw the Green Children on the roof. It crouched to jump. "No," I said. I stepped forward. "Hey! Ugly!" I flared. I pushed my density to the max. I became a gravity well. "Look at me!" The Beast turned. It saw the glowing boy. It sniffed. It smelled the Star. Its mouth opened wider. It didn't want the salad anymore. It wanted the main course. It charged. It moved impossibly fast for something that size. It covered the distance in two bounds.

It looked less like a house and more like a fortress, beautiful, intimidating, and completely out of reach for someone like him. The car rolled up the long driveway and came to a gentle stop in front of the grand entrance. A guard stepped forward immediately and opened the door. Alexander stepped out first, calm and composed as always, his posture straight and confident. Aiden followed, trying not to stare too obviously at the mansion. The sheer size of it made his old family home feel small and cheap by comparison. Before they could even reach the front door, it opened. A graceful woman stepped outside. Her dark hair was neatly styled, and her presence carried a quiet kind of authority. But

I wasn't in total shock hearing his confession, but his next words shocked me even more. "But I never knew that this beast would find his beauty." My breathing got caught up in my throat. A small smile appeared on his face for the first time. He smiled, and it wasn't a fake one. He stared at me with pure adoration and affection. "During all of this I've hurt you unintentionally and I regret it. I don't know how much you will hate me now, but I know one thing for sure, that this beast won't let his beauty go because this beast has crazily started to fall for his beauty."

She didn’t even look at me—just walked straight to her vanity, opening a drawer and pulling out a brush. She started brushing her hair with quick, angry strokes. I watched her for a moment. “Feel better now?” Her brush paused mid-stroke. “You’re still here?” “I live here,” I said mildly. She glared at me through the mirror. "Unfortunately." That made me grin. “You know, you say the sweetest things, Bella.” “Don’t call me that,” she muttered. “You keep saying that,” I replied, standing slowly, “and yet you never stop answering to it.”

The trees were skeletal, their leaves dead. In the clearing, the Beast crouched bone armor flickering in unnatural light. Emily stepped forward, heart pounding. She remembered the tome’s phrase: Bind flame and bone, or be consumed. The Beast snarled. She reached out, voice steady. “I’m not here to control you. I’m here to heal you.” Mirroring command and compassion, her magic glowed a soothing blue aura.
