Alex POV "To be turned, you need the consent of the Werewolf King and Queen, you and Mason. Only the King has the power to turn somebody though. You remember the blue thingies that were floating around Mason at the ceremony?," Blake explains and I nod. "Well that is the power that was handed over to him. It also comes with a different kind of venom. This kind of venom has the werewolf pathogen which enters a human's bloodstream to turn them into a werewolf. If Mason were to bite some body before he became King, he would either kill them due to the body thinking it's an infection or it would take but they would die from the pain." He finishes.

The events of the past day flooded my memory, and I plopped down on the bed in defeat. "Who brought me here?" I asked. "Damien, the Lycan King." She shrugged, and my heart stopped. It couldn't be. This had to be some sick joke from nature. Of all the people in the world to be my mate, it had to be the Lycan King. A wolf feared by all throughout the kingdom. I marvelled at how, in less than a day, I had gone from almost getting married to the love of my life to finding out he was having a child with my best friend and then almost getting killed by rogues if not for the timely appearance of my mate.

With trembling hands, I had broken the seal and unfolded the parchment, my heart sinking as I read the words inscribed upon it. The once cryptic message had become alarmingly clear, revealing a truth that sent shivers down my spine. Alpha King Hazel, the ruler of Blood Moon, had descended into madness, his actions veering into the realm of the unthinkable. He had begun turning people into corrupted beings, wielding a power that defied comprehension. Even worse, my beloved was not exempt from his actions, having been the very first to suffer under it.

For a second, just a second, there is a shimmer under my skin, faint and silver, and then it’s gone so fast I think I imagined it. I’m tired. I’m imagining things. I get up and start walking back. ♦︎ The weeks that follow are the greyest of my life. The pack talks. They always talk, but now they have material. The Lycan King rejected the curse-born at the Mating Ceremony not even a real rejection, they say, because you can only be properly rejected by a mate who considers you worth rejecting, and clearly, I was not. My aunt’s satisfaction is quiet and thorough. She doesn’t say anything outright. She doesn’t have to.

"Yes, I think I can. I mean you had to inject me with wolfsbane before. This time it is a fair fight with no external help from your guards." The king snaps and charges at Andrew. Andrew barely has time to change into his wolf. King Christian tries to land a hit but Andrew keeps dodging. Andrew turns around and starts biting at the king. Andrew sees an opening and takes it. He bites down on the king's leg. The king is screaming in pain. Andrew lets go and stands over the king. He looks into the king's eyes and bites down on his neck. All the vampires start screaming. Feeling the king's bond break. They know that the king is dead. Prince Victor walks towards the front.

My vision goes in and out of focus looking at the frown on his face. "W-why?" I ask again. He just stands there for a moment frown down at me, before a sick smirk tug at the corner of his lips. "That pathetic half breed came to me for help with killing you animals and I was actually looking forward to killing you all, but then I find out that he's mated to you, the daughter of the Lycan king, causing everything to change. You see when your filthy brother bit me that venom left me incapacitated. Now I'm going to use your venom on my brother, kill him, and become king. Then I'll finish the war my father started and wipe you filthy animals out." Hearing what he said I'm too weak to react on the

Only his eyes had changed, glowing with a dangerous, feverish light that was barely human, barely him. “Wolf King,” I gasped, dropping to my knees beside him, my voice barely steady. “Duncan, what’s happening?” My hand hovered over him, desperate to help, but before I could react, he lunged at me. Fangs flashing in the dim light and his teeth sank into my neck. A sharp pain seared through me as I stumbled back, pressing a hand to the wound, feeling the pulse of his bite. It was small, barely a mark… but the meaning struck me like a thunderbolt.

"Same. He doesn’t deserve pity, not after letting innocent people get turned into slaves." Zinnia held her hand to her chest and sighed dramatically. "Then I guess I’m the bad one here, because I do feel bad for him. Especially when I think about that face... ugh, it just melts me." "Seriously? You're crushing on the guy who became King by killing the old one when he was barely out of his teens?" June said, rolling her eyes. My eyes widened. "Wait, really? He didn’t inherit the throne?" June laughed. "Nope. The rumor is, his parents were just normal werewolves like us. He’s the only one who turned out to be a Lycan."

Before I can make a move for the door, King Myenas grasps my shoulders. My eyes widen in fear. I try to get out of his iron grip, but I’m unable to. “Please don’t–” “Hush, little wolf. It’s over now.” “No, please–” He pulls me forward, his sharp teeth biting into my neck. I scream as loud as I can while clawing at his wide shoulders, trying to make him let go. He holds on, pulling me close as he feeds on me. Dark spots cloud my vision. My knees feel weak. I’m being pushed toward the bed until my back is resting on the soft furs. King Myenas is on top of me, pressed close to my body like an unwanted lover as he drinks from me.

Another replied and I groaned but still closed my eyes there. “Are you nut? Can’t you see he is about to die? He can’t even open his eyes well anymore. Are we going to watch him die like this?” One of them said again and my heart leaped. “You are the one who’s lost his mind. Have you forgotten that he is a Lycan king and a very strong one at that? How will he die just because he is thirsty? Beings like him can go for years without taking anything and they will still be okay!” One of them finally raised his voice as he scolded the last one who spoke.
