She opened the door fully.
“You said you’d regroup tonight,” she said quietly.
Jake stepped inside. “We moved it up.”
Damon followed, locking the door behind them without comment.
The room felt smaller with all three of them in it charged, intimate, full of everything they were trying not to name. Jake leaned against the desk, arms crossed. Damon stayed near the door, a habit she was starting to recognize.
“They sent another message,” Jake said.
Lola nodded. “I know.”
Damon’s gaze sharpened. “You didn’t reply.”
