I tossed it back into the drawer and chose the other by default. "The beginning of the end" I read out from the cover, then paused it think about it for a second "Hmm...interesting" I said, flipping through to the first chapter. Uninterrupted, I finished the first chapter in minutes but somewhere in the middle of the second, Caleb brought me dinner. I ate to my fill and lay down supine, meditating on the unfolding storyline.

I could touch the light until I saw him. I saw the Alpha. As if I didn’t want to see him, my eyes opened. I gasped for air immediately. I coughed a couple times that I even saw blood coming out of my mouth. It took a while for me to calm down. I waited for my vision and hearing to clear. This time, I would be happier. A week later, I walked into the event hall with Anthony. The moment I stepped inside, however, I saw Cyrus. My feet were instantly frozen to the ground, unable to move. I arched my back in pain, trying to throw him off me but coul
