Marriage First, Mate Second
Levi and I look at each other, and I shrug.
“I don’t know,” I tell him, “If it does work, it should happen soon.”
“How will we know,” he asks, “What will happen?”
Before I can answer him, the creature stops howling. We look at the one way glass, and it starts to transform. It’s tail begins to disappear first, shrinking until it vanishes, as if it has never existed. Its face begins to change next. Wolf ears shrink to human size, sharp fangs disappear to become human teeth. In a few moments there is a remarkably ordinary looking human man seated in the chair. He appears to be in his thirties, and looks, understandably, stunned.
