Third Person POV Flashback — Prom Night By the time the rest of the week passed, prom had finally arrived, and the energy around school had completely shifted. Everyone was either excited, stressed, or already living in the moment, trying to make it something memorable before graduation officially closed that chapter. Brittany, who had never even planned on going, found herself making a last-minute decision that she wasn’t about to be left out, not when everybody else was dressing up, showing out, and stepping into something that felt bigger than where they came from.

"Please, please, please, tell me that you were not driven by his sweet words or his boyish smile or of course his body that you could not resist. Oh God! A few hours later; we are at the prom hall, it's beautifully decorated. "This day is the big night, it turns out this year prom is going to be different, it's not just a drama competition but singing as well and we have lots of awards to give to the best student..." Mr. Mike, the social master kept speaking while I used my eyes to search for Cameron, since Emerald had to excuse herself to go look for Alex, as soon as we arrived.

Mami shrugs. The prom is held at The Palm House in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. The venue is beautiful and the energy is high. We find a table large enough to accommodate our whole group and get ourselves settled before everyone goes to the buffet and we all talk and eat and dance. Ambrose’s hand keeps finding its way to my thigh when we are sitting and while we are dancing he mutters sweet nothings in my ear while kissing my neck and cheek and lips. “You are so sexy yourself, baby!” I whisper back as I kiss his jaw.

Three weeks later Tonight is prom night. The night all the senior girls look forward to the most. Don’t ask me about the guys some look forward to it for other reasons than what it means. The girls and I are getting ready together. We all booked to get our hair and makeup done at a salon today for tonight. We are sat in the chairs getting pampered away, a treat from Selena’s Abuela, as she said no Nieta of hers will not go to prom without having a beauty day at the salon. We all chose to have a French manicure and pedicure, to keep it simple. We also showed our makeup artists pictures of our dresses so they could do our makeup to match our dresses.

*Flashback* Sabrina's POV Tonight, is our junior prom – the theme is under the sea, but isn't it always? I don't have a date and that's okay; I always have more fun on my own, anyway. It wasn't surprising to see all the jocks asking the cheerleaders to go with, even if they hated each other because that's the stereotype these days. The hot people always go together.

I rest my hands on his shoulders as we sway together. I close my eyes for a second, letting myself soak in the moment. This is so much better than my first prom. Back then, I felt out of place, like I was just going through the motions. But this? This feels real. And it is in a stupid W*****d book. The prom marked a monumental time in the lives of teenagers all across America. Some people dubbed it our coming of age moment, and others claimed that it was the grandest night of our teenage lives.
