The shadows seemed to hold their breath, and for a fleeting moment, all fell silent. Then a low, sinister chuckle echoed through the suffocating darkness. "I didn’t think you’d notice us so soon," it taunted, the words slithering through the air like a venomous snake. I tensed, recognizing the voice instantly. "Billy," I responded, my words laced with a cold edge. "What do you want?" He stepped out from the shadows, the moonlight glinting off his scarred face. "You know why we’re here," he said, his voice steady. "You owe us, big time."

Billy asked with wide eyes and Lilian looked taken aback too. I opened my mouth to say something, anything but words failed me, so Billy collected the phone from me. “Did you just say you would die? You want to die and leave my sister heartbroken?” Billy asked in exasperation. “Uhm.. hello!! Can you hear me? I can’t hear you any longer, there seems to be a sudden breakage in the network,” Alpha Zane said, making me roll my eyes. I knew what he was trying to do and I guess Billy knew too because he scoffed.

“Mr. Lee must be there, right? Put the call on the loudspeaker, bastard. I want to talk to him.” Startled by Dwight’s angry voice, Billy fumbled to put the call on loudspeaker. Everybody could hear Dwight’s voice. “Are you there, Mr. Lee? I’m Dwight Tensor. “I’m so sorry that my bastard son offended you.”

And for the first time in a long while, I believe it. I enter the payphone booth. Closing my eyes for a moment, I take a deep breath to steady myself. I clear my throat, wanting my voice to be loud and clear. Pulling the crumpled business card from my pocket, I dial the number scrawled in messy handwriting across the back. "Agent Miller," a gruff voice answers on the other end of the line. "John? It's Diana Giuseppe," I say, my voice barely a whisper as fear threatens to choke me.

“Hold please and I will transfer your call.” I started pacing the floor as the phone began to ring; once, twice, and in the middle of the third ring a someone answered, “Maidin mhaith, I mean good morning Clive Kelly speaking.” His voice sounds a little weird, like with an accent of some sort, but I couldn’t tell you what kind. “Good morning Mr. Kelly, I don’t know if you remember me from yesterday, but this is Baylor, your server and you left a note with your extremely generous tip for me to call you.” I hear a long sigh come through the receiver and then he continues, “Ah yes,Baylor. I was beginning to wonder if you had gotten my note at all.”

( All of a sudden I heard a muffled voice talking in the background. ???: Layla. What the fuck are you doing?!!! {I was confused for a moment as to who was talking and then I finally placed the voice} Layla: Billy? Is that you? { I looked up and noticed all my friends looking at me in concern. Leo motioned for me to hand him the phone but I shook my head no} Billy: I'll repeat my question, what the fuck are you doing? Layla: None of your Goddamn business.

The voice of Felix boomed from the other line causing Bianca to shiver. "Uhh,___ hmm__ Hello sir, it's Bianca on the line!" Bianca's voice muttered softly and slowly. She gritted her teeth together as her knees went weak when she got no reply from the other line. "Miss Ferguson, what do you want, and why are you calling me with Nanny's phone?" He asked.

He looked at me with so much exasperation, probably wondering what on earth is going on. He spoke. Oh yes, he spoke to me. ‘Can I help you’? That was the best line he could come up with. He asked me if he could be of any assistance. Not ‘Hey Petunia. Not: hey beautiful. Not even a simple ‘hey girl’. Just an arrogant ‘can I help you?’

Bill glanced at the phone, feeling immense pressure. It was yet another call from the Garcia family. He dared not ignore it nor dared to disturb his boss. Taking a few steps towards the corridor, he mustered all his strength for mental preparation before daring to answer the call from Director Garcia. Director Garcia's voice came through sternly, tinged with anger, "Where is he? Get him on the phone." It was clear who he was referring to. Bill, relying on his lifelong professionalism, replied respectfully, "Director Garcia, Mr. Garcia is... dealing with a very tricky matter." He chose his words carefully.

Doris's voice, rising in disbelief, echoes through the speakers, “What are you talking about? I didn’t do anything wrong, Bill. Why are you accusing me? Serena has always been the snake here, and you know it! She’s the one feeding you lies, trying to seduce you.” I hear my own voice, filled with anger, cutting through, "Look who's talking. You're the one who's been doing exactly what you're accusing me of, Doris." The sound of footsteps follows, indicating me taking a few steps forward. Bill's voice, firm yet gentle, comes next, "Hey, just stay back. I'll handle this." The recording ends, leaving the courtroom in stunned silence.
