Mason’s pov Just then, a voice echoed from the far end of the hallway, cutting through the tension before it could snap. “Sir, you’re getting very late for your meeting.” I didn’t turn right away. The voice belonged to Edward, my butler. He had served the Wells family longer than I had been alive. His hair was silver now, his back stiff with discipline and habit. Even after all these years, I could hear the nervousness in his tone. Interrupting me was not something anyone did easily.

He comes out of the car. When the butler saw the wound on Edward’s face, he was slightly stunned. Before he could react, Edward had already entered the villa.

The butler bowed his head after saying this. Sir Edward also thinks what the butler said was right, but his ego won’t allow him to apologize to a junior. “You are also supporting them, right? All of you are turning against me in this house, hmmm, he snorted, before standing up with the help of his walking stick and storming out of the lounge. “Sorry old master, I didn’t mean to offend you.” The old butler jogs behind Sir Edward, trying to help him out, as they both walk off.

Mr Yates said to Teresa. "Yeah, that's true. I'm sure that they are acting as strangers just because we are present," Teresa said to Mr Yates while avoiding the gaze of Edward, who was glaring daggers at her. "Well, let's cut them some slack; we too were once like them," Mr Yates said to Teresa, who nodded in reply, and at the same time, the butler, who had left after bringing Edward inside, made his way into the sitting room. "Old master, the dinner is ready," the butler said to Mr Yates.

Not with the tension in the room. At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Eyes rose up to meet the chief Butler, Lee, standing in front of the door, with his head bowed. "Lee." Edward spoke up, grateful for whatever form of distraction Lee allowed himself to be. The elderly butler walked into the dinning room and greeted them all, before focusing his gaze on Edward. "Your highness, you have a visitor." Edward's eyes narrowed in suspicion. He had not been expecting anybody, so who could this visitor be?
