At least not to me, maybe to others. "Wolves use howling to communicate with each other, and trust me when I say it gives you goosebumps." I nodded at Alastor, and just like we planned he started howling. It echoed off everything. It was a deep hollow sound. I winked at Alastor, and it almost looked like he winked back. I'll have to write that down later.

I took the chaos to mind link Tristan in privacy, his voice weak from the amount of silver he was contained with. : Tristan, is this you? The attack? It’s 50 wolves, no scent… what?... they’re all black wolves… Tristan, what is this? : the moment I see them I’m shocked, they are all huge like Silas, if not bigger, their fur as black as night and they are all lethal and deadly looking. A black-furred wolf is a thing of legend, no wolf has ever been fully black, not since the very first Alpha, the very first wolf to ever howl to the moon. Over the years their lineage was bred out and that's why you no longer see all black wolves. Just wolves lucky enough to have spots of black or charcoal grey in their fur. It didn’t leave us with much and Viktor wasn’t as helpful as we would have hoped. Saying the last wolf he knew that was black was named Tenebrous.

I cried out and took a step back and bumped into something warm and soft. I turned to see a wolf, the largest and most beautiful wolf that I have ever seen. She was snow white with icy blue eyes and a little silver streak down the middle of her forehead. Her fur was longer and softer than the fur on the wolves from the forest. Somehow, I knew her name was Heka, and she was there to help me, not hurt me. Behind her, three more wolves stood, identical. They were a chocolate brown color with black markings on their faces. I could sense that they were just like Heka, and they wouldn’t hurt me, either.

Despite its lupine form, it exuded a commanding presence over the armed men in their human guise. The wolf, driven by a singular purpose, was here for one individual – a target it was resolutely determined to eliminate this very night.
