Cyrus, the largest grey wolf, stepped towards us and bent his head, revering our newest member. Esmerelda followed my gaze and was startled. She tried to get up but kept falling down, unable to coordinate her four legs. Her whines and whimpers tugged at my heart. Cyrus took another step, and Magnus howled long and soulfully, freaking her out. Terror consumed her as she adjusted and flew on top of a granite boulder. She looked at me in utter betrayal before leaping off the rock and sprinting effortlessly over the line of wolves. Her white fur streaked against the dark green mountainside as we all paused in awe.

I whispered, pointing. Dorian and Bryan stiffened, their bodies coiling with readiness. The mist shifted, and a figure began to emerge—a wolf, its fur dark with streaks of silver, eyes glinting with intelligence and something familiar, something that struck a chord deep within me. My breath caught. The aura it exuded… it was unmistakable. Blackridge. Rowan’s pack. And yet… different. Younger. Tethered to legacy, to claim, to bloodlines I had only just begun to understand.

"But somehow, it worked. You adapted and grew stronger. You even got your wolf, though it is not unheard of, but like I said, it's rare, and you could imagine our surprise when you shifted and your wolf was white ... that was the only confirmation needed to shut down the murmurs from the pack elders. Nothing happens. I feel a hot, steamy breath on my upper back makes me look up and I'm nose to snout with an enormous, spectacularly completely black wolf. Looking into his eyes, they are the bluest I've ever seen, like a waterfall, with white blue flicks in a perfect circular pattern around the pupil. My mate is so beautiful it nearly makes my heart stop.
