Chapter 79 – Transfer The darkness wasn’t natural. Cities don’t go dark like that. Even during outages, there’s bleed—backup grids, emergency strips, distant traffic glow. There’s always something. This was surgical. The kind of blackout that has intent. My ears were still ringing when the first sound returned—a faint mechanical hum somewhere deep in the warehouse. Not above. Not outside. Below. The woman grabbed my collar and dragged me behind an overturned steel desk as emergency strips flickered back to life along the far wall.

Glancing back at the members of Blackrock, I pulled my shirt over my head and blocked the men’s view as much as I was able. “Transform Baby. I think we need to talk.” I uttered and watched mesmerised as the flames receded after a moment’s hesitation, as Cali’s bones elongated and reshaped back into her human form, I held out my shirt, trying really fucking hard not to let the sight of her naked in front of me distract me from the situation at hand.

I finally turned my head, my amber eyes locking onto his. "Ninety seconds, Alpha. That is your execution window. Go wipe his script from my earth."

She gripped the dead pulse device like it was a lifeline. “Blackout pulse,” Nolan muttered, scrambling for tools. “They must have triggered a synchronized disruption across every node in the system.” He clicked a flashlight on and immediately cursed—the beam flickered and died in less than a second. “EMP resonance. They’re frying circuits in waves.”

The room grew darker and his energy surged. Without warning, the doors behind us burst open, and soldiers from the G.H.C. They were heavily armed in their robots suits as they took positions beside the Prime Order. I realized then that this had been the plan all along—an effort between the Prime Order and the G.H.C soldiers to take down Blackthorn. The battle that followed was chaotic. Shadows clashed with energy blasts, fists met steel, and the sound of fights filled the room. "We're blind beyond a two-mile radius, Torque," Leo grunted, lifting his welding mask. Sweat poured down his face. "With Kara severing the global satellite mesh to protect the mainframe, our early warning systems are completely dark. If Sector Prime sends an orbital drop, we won't see it until it's burning through the atmosphere."

The provisional council chamber beneath the rebuilt Apex tower had transformed into a theater of controlled terror. The long table, once a symbol of fragile democracy, now served as Prime’s stage for interrogation. Clone-Prime sat at its head, wearing Damian’s face with the cold precision of a mask carved from ice. His black suit was impeccable, open collar revealing the faint scar that mirrored the original, but the eyes held none of the fire that had defined Damian through every hell they had survived. The world exploded in a shower of sparks. The boat shuddered violently, and every light on the dock and in the distant village flickered and died. I had blown a transformer. Maybe worse. I had plunged the entire harbor into blackout. Perfect darkness. Perfect chaos. I scrambled back up the stairs, pushing the hatch open just enough to see. The two men were on the pier, their own flashlights now the only sources of light, sweeping frantically across the suddenly black world.
