Thousands of silver-armored figures turning toward the northern horizon. Toward the mountains beyond Blackthorn. The same direction Seraphine was looking. The same direction the connection was pulling my attention. Something was there. Something approaching. The storm intensified. Silver lightning flashed overhead. Then another crack appeared. Not across the entire sky this time. Smaller. Closer. Directly above the distant mountains. The air itself fractured. Like glass. The sight sent chills through everyone present. “Protection. Trade. A voice in the north that isn’t controlled by Ironfang or Bloodpeak.” Lyra was quiet for a long time. “You’re asking me to bet against Orin,” she said finally. “I’m asking you to bet on the future,” Elena replied. Lyra’s smile was sharp. “Bold. But Silvermaw doesn’t bet on futures. We bet on what’s standing when the dust settles.” Elena nodded. “Then let me make sure Blackthorn is still standing.” Lyra’s eyes narrowed. “You think you can hold against Bloodpeak and what’s left of Ironfang?”

She held up a grin, blood dripping from her mouth. "Let's do this…" I gulped down the last drops of blood from the bottle, sending her instructions with my eyes. The humans had all run into their homes, giving us a proper sight of the mountains. As we closed the gap between us and the mountain, I couldn't believe my eyes. Long silver rods stood at opposite ends, flames burning between them. A black seal held the silver bars in place, stopping it from opening. "Sire, we have to hurry; the inscriptions in the clouds have begun to fade." Sabrina let out. She was trying her best not to give up having only strength and agility alone.

Lyra The Blackthorne stronghold rose before me like something out of legend–stone walls carved with ancient runes, towers piercing the sky, banners of deep obsidian fluttering against the wind. It was too polished, too perfect, and that alone set my instincts on edge. Packs like mine scraped survival from dirt and blood. Stars were scattered through blackness, Sparkling like diamonds on a bed of black velvet. But it was the moon that dominated the sky, her silvery light bathing the frozen wilderness until it looked like a black and white photo was as beautiful as it was haunting.

"Is everything alright, Miss Thorn?" Ravenna forced a smile. "Yes, everything's fine. Just... a lot to take in." Emily nodded sympathetically. "Of course. It must be overwhelming. Is there anything I can do to help?" Ravenna thought for a moment. "Actually, yes. Could you get me all the information we have on Soren Blackthorn and his pack? And... discreetly find out what you can about Rylan Moonstone and a woman named Lilith." Emily's eyes widened slightly, but she nodded. "Of course, Miss Thorn. I'll get right on that."

I spun around, blocking the blade with my forearm, the steel-like skin of my arm stopping it. “You’ve gotten faster,” I muttered, pushing him back with a powerful shove. “And you’ve gotten predictable,” Blackthorn shot back, his eyes glowing with amusement. He lunged at me again, faster this time, the shadows around him growing more dangerous. I countered with a blast of solar energy, the heat from the blast vaporizing the tendrils as they reached for me.

I raced forward, chopping down the wolves in my way until I reached her side. “We’re being overwhelmed!” she cried, swiping at her opponent. “We need to fall back!” “Not yet,” I muttered, plunging my blade through another adversary. “We hold the line.” But even as I said the words, I knew she was right. We couldn’t win this fight—not like this. A loud boom shook the ground, and every head turned toward the source. Blackthorn himself stepped into the clearing, his eyes shining with glee. He was flanked by his elite guards, their presence a chilling reminder of the power he commanded.

Everett replied, "no, but we will jump." Everett jumped from the castle tower. She screamed in shock and hugged Everett's body. Everett jumped on every tree and stopped at one of the taller trees. Everett said, "it's alright, you can open your eyes now." She opened her eyes and was fascinated by the beauty of the realm of black mist. There is a colourful light that looks like a galaxy. She thought frightening darkness only surrounded the realm of Black Mist. But that darkness also looks beautiful. "Should we continue our journey? Don't close your eyes," Everett said.
