Demitri took the spot she patted and sat as well. "I know it's stupid, but this feels like a totally different world to me." Becca said and then scoffed, smiling at her own childish behaviour. "What kind of world?" Demitri asked. Becca thought about the best way to explain the river of emotions she attached to the field. "I guess... this is how my life would look if a didn't try anything new. It's a good reminder to be grateful for everything on the other side of the trees." Becca said. Demitri nodded silently and waited for more. Becca rubbed her eyes.

Nothing scared me anymore because I was already scared of myself. “I really need to shower,” I whispered, seeing a slight shock in his eyes. “Yes,” Kylan mumbled. “You go do that, and I’ll be back later.” I stopped walking, his words stopping me in my tracks. He had no business outside of this room, other than… Chrystal. Turns out there was something scarier than myself, and that was the thing I had seen in my vision. Kylan losing control. I could see it all so clearly again. Kylan holding Chrystal by her throat with his claws out, fangs ready to attack. The way he smashed her head to the window, Nate jumping on his back which would lead to a huge fight.

The only movement is the slow sway of branches. And then I see the hair caught on a snag…the flash of blonde in the mulch. I freeze. It is small and obscene under the moon, and sudden hot fear lurches up into my throat. I kneel and the world compresses to this single point, to thread, to color. My fingers move because they must. They don’t find anything except the impression of blonde hair and a smear that says someone slid their palm along the ground. “Blaire!” I shout, all sound, all hope. No reply.

“I do, and that’s why I’m not gonna let it happen again. Not to Cruz, not to you, and not to the kid.” My lips trembled. “Don’t make promises you can’t keep.” “I don’t make promises,” Blade said coldly. “I make threats. And whoever took Cruz? They’re already dead men walking.” The air between us snapped with the weight of his words. “Blade…” My voice shook. “What if we’re too late?” “We won’t be.” “You don’t know that.” His jaw flexed, and for the first time, I saw something break through his armor. Fear. Just for a second. “No,” he admitted. “I don’t. But I’ll kill every last one of them until I get to him. That’s the only way I know.”

“Don't focus on that, focus on killing those that we can so when they make it to us it will be clear” Then i heard it, the sound i had been waiting for, baylees earth shattering scream, one so loud every window, glass or moniter in the vicinity explodes, the cars blowing to bits, the floor shakes and the humans scream in agony, the long hallway giving them enough of a barrier between them and baylee so it would hurt but not kill them

I gulp back the fear that is slowly rising up inside me. “Do you have any idea who I am? I am death. I am the thing people fear. You can’t kill fear and you can’t kill me,” he hisses. He’s right. He is something I fear. I’m scared all the time and maybe I always will be. Maybe he’s right, maybe you can’t kill fear. But I can choose to not be ruled by it.

“We’ve crossed it.” A murmur moved through the ranks. The younger wolves shifted on their paws; a few glanced back toward the distant treeline where the world still held color. Lira saw the fear in their flattened ears and remembered the same fear in her own chest when Ronan had first described the Grey Blight — not a curse, not a plague of the body, but a unraveling. A place where the world forgot itself.

"Yourself?"- Erys. "I'm terrified that my bloodlust will kill everyone I care about." Right on cue, my mirror image walked out of the shadows.

I hold on to this power, seeking stability amid the turmoil. I feel weighed down by fear, suffocated by the dread of losing Alex. I'm standing on the brink of a frightening chasm. I understand I need to take a leap of faith, to be truthful with myself, with Edward, with Alex. Facing the painful realities hidden within me. The future is filled with unknowns, yet I recognize the importance of being brave. My only defence against the inner demons is my strength.
