I looked at Sienna. She looked terrified. I looked back at Raven. "You didn't?" Raven hesitated. Just slightly. Enough. I stepped closer. "You know what your problem is?" Raven stayed quiet. "You think monsters look a certain way." The room was silent. I could hear Sienna breathing. I looked directly into Raven's eyes. "You want me to be angry." Raven's hand tightened around her phone. "You want me to confess." I smiled. "But you don't understand something."

I saw a monster. A cold-blooded killer.

It raised its bloody claw, prepared to strike, but just then, steel met claw with a streak of sparks. The force sent me flying backward against a tree, while the monster was also thrown back. It lunged at me again, faster than I thought. I ducked immediately and slashed its arm, making sure to target its most sensitive part. Black blood spilled, and the monster hissed as it hit the ground. To my surprise, the creature didn’t scream after the attack, it only smiled, showing its bloody fangs. I scoffed, also amused, as I tilted my head. “Come on then,” I growled. “Let’s see what kind of beast you really are.”

"Bleach was never a pawn in this game. It is unstable and relentless, do well to remember we can not make an enemy out of it." The girl smirked. "Do not be foolish, we already did when we chose to pursue that artifact….. My love."

Without warning, three thousand demonic phantoms began to charge at Thunder Monster and Metallic Bone at a very overwhelming speed. Thunder Monster and Metallic Bone saw the attack and immediately began to feel scared. Never in their wildest dreams would they have thought Lucas would launch such a scary attack. Thunder Monster and Metallic Bone quickly activated their ultimate skills to defend against it. Broom! All of a sudden, the entire building was demolished.

I let my eyes move across the table, watching their silent reactions. “But it’s the vampires that disturb me more,” I continued, voice soft but clear. “The killer used a forbidden method, death by full blood drainage. No tears, no marks of force. Just… empty. And the way the blood was drained wasn’t just to kill, it looked ceremonial. Intentional. As if someone is trying to ascend… or become something, someone, supernatural.” I stopped there, keeping the rest of my findings close to my chest. I didn’t trust them enough to give more. The room had fallen dead silent.

Tomorrow, we sharpened our knives and counted who remained. Malik’s hand brushed the back of my thigh as he climbed the last rise, possessive, tender, and something darker that promised more. He’d saved me. I had saved Scarlett. And if his eyes held that darker edge a little longer than they should have, if his fingers flexed as though they still felt bone giving under them, I didn’t mind. Let them call me a monster, as I returned in blood-soaked rags once again. Another foe dealt with. The monsters are the ones who lose their children and sit down to cry.

One by one, the heads opened their cold, malevolent eyes and grinned with feral malice. My scream shattered into nothingness. I opened my eyes to a stabbing pain in my arm. “Your stuff’s in the closet. Uniforms, towels, bedding. They measured you from the hospital records. Everything should fit.” I opened the closet door. Rows of black blazers, white shirts, red ties, dark trousers—all in my exact size. The emblem on every breast pocket: the shield, the bat, the single blood-drop tear. Like the school was crying for something it already killed. Fresh towels stacked on the shelf. A pair of black boots on the floor. Even socks. Black, of course. I turned back to the box on the bed, flipped the lid. Inside: a sleek black phone, the BludHeaven logo etched into the back. No brand name, no model number—just the bat and the tear. A charger. A folded note on top.

The monster let out a choked screech as the force blasted it clean across the room, smashing it violently into the stone wall before it dissolved into thin air. The room went completely quiet, save for the sound of my heavy, ragged breathing. Adrian and Lisa both froze, their jaws dropping as they stared at me. The air in the basement was no longer freezing cold; it felt warm, almost summer-like. My hands were trembling violently, and a faint, golden vapor was rising off my skin, slowly fading into the darkness. "What... what was that?" Lisa whispered, her purple shields dropping completely. She looked at the blank stone wall where the monster had just been destroyed, then back to my hands.
