My vision blurred red, my claws extending, my fangs sharpening. She stumbled, eyes darting toward the door. But there was nowhere to run. I owned her. “You’re worthless to me,” I whispered. Then— Light exploded from the sky. A silver blaze, so intense it swallowed the sun itself. The entire room darkened, as if night had fallen in the blink of an eye. For a single, breathless moment, the world stood still. Then— The silver light pulsed, flooding the room, illuminating everything in a sharp, celestial glow. It was unlike anything I had ever seen—pure, powerful, undeniable.

But I ignored that. I drank tea because my throat felt dry. I felt the warm liquid flow down my throat to my stomach. I placed the cup on the table and spoke. "Regarding that, I want you to make a light bulb that has its color. A light bulb that won't break if there is snow and can be used outside. The colors of the light bulb are red, yellow, blue, and green. Each light bulb is only one color. It will give color and light to the place especially when it's just black and white." I explained to him in a simple way that he could understand.

“This should look familiar to you, Lights. I can’t shoot light beams from my eyes like you can, though.” Lights created his own sphere and floated it toward Leesa. She responded by sending hers to meet his. Just before the two touched, Leesa turned hers blue. Where the edges of the globes met, the light fused into a glowing green hue. Leesa felt a pang in her heart. The green light reminded her of Ralin. “Hey, that’s neat,” Lights said. “I never thought about trying to make my light into other colors. I wonder if you could teach me how to do that?”

The blade blazed. Light exploded from the dagger—pale blue, bright as a star, brighter than the sun. The light poured into the shadow, filling its cracks, burning away the darkness that held it together. The shadow screamed—a sound that shook the walls, that cracked the bones, that made my ears bleed.

“Probably before the stretch lights. We can do our homework at your house and then I can go home.” “Sounds like a plan best friend.”

She allowed me to cup my hands along her high cheek bones possessively as I pulled back to answer promptly. "More than." Colorful lights illuminated our silhouettes with their dancing rays; Greens, pinks, and yellows all in neon shades. I watched Blythe's expression change to one of pointed certainty as she reached for the back of my head, stroking it absently as if in a trance. I figured out right away how much I liked the green light in particular, because it complimented her heavily lidded bedroom eyes so well when it reflected into them. Everything, and everyone else was forgotten...including the shots we planned to lap up off of one another.

The aftermath of shock, but Lara would sooner have been boiled alive than cry in front of him. “If you were hanging off the edge of a cliff, I’d stand on your fingers,” she told him jerkily. She heard paper tearing. A bottle of ‘Blonde Passion’ landed beside her. “The name caught my eye,” he raked down at her, “and the stupid salesgirl sprayed some of it around me. That was yesterday and I still can’t get rid of it!” A long silence stretched. Her teeth bit into the hand she had wedged against her mouth but she couldn’t stop the faint tremors still racking through her.

This light wasn’t a visitor, it was a resident, born from the depths, undeniable. The storm intensified. Thunder cracked, closer now, shaking the old windowpanes. Lightning flashed, illuminating the studio in stark, blinding bursts, freezing the image of the glowing gold spreading across the blue, freezing me bent over the sacred table. Then, with a fizzle and a pop, the power died. Darkness plunged into the studio, thick and absolute, broken only by the erratic strobe of lightning and the angry blue glow of my phone screen where it lay charging.

Blake could see the perplexed look on my face and then walked towards a drawer, pulled out a UV light, and handed it to me. “I think this will help you understand better.” He said and then turned on his UV light. I hesitated for a while. The things he said and did seemed like the ramblings of a madman, but then I shook my head and turned on my UV light. It would make everything easier to see what he was trying to show me, rather than trying to understand him. As soon as I turned on the light and pointed it to one of the photographic papers, my eyes widened in shock and I immediately shifted my gaze back to Blake, confusion written all over my expression.

If I threw the master capacitor switch, the sudden burst of ten thousand lumens of pure white light would instantly blind his optics. “Julian!” I yelled at the top of my lungs, giving him the only warning I could. “Close your eyes!” I didn't wait to see if he heard me. I grabbed the master capacitor handle with both hands and slammed it downward with everything I had. A loud, high-pitched electrical hum filled the room, followed by a sudden, blinding flash of brilliant white light. Long, industrial searchlights hidden in the high ceiling burst open at full power, turning the pitch-black room into a blazing white furnace.
