Noah kept his arms wrapped around me, hugging me from behind. The lights went on and the room came alive. Silver everywhere. The walls were a light blue. The one window in the room was covered with heavy velvet black out curtains. I couldn't tell if they were a dark navy blue or black as they shimmered in the light. It was softly lit by installed ceiling lights. In the far corner a standing shaded lamp stood but wasn't turned on. The lighting was intense. From underneath the bed it a deep blue danced up to the ceiling resembling the night sky. It was beautiful but probably meant more for safety then aesthetics.

Then she looked at Alexander. “And everything you feel too.” Alexander’s breathing shattered. “Then you know I can’t lose you.” Lena smiled sadly. “That’s why I can’t let either of you fight this part.” The blue light intensified— rising from her chest like fire— expanding until the entire laboratory glowed sky-blue. The Helion Units screamed as their circuits fried. The beast’s body dissolved into sparks. The walls cracked open. Kass screamed over the chaos: “YOU’LL DESTROY YOURSELF, LENAAAAA—!!”

The shadow-spiders shrieked, dissolving into ash right before my eyes. The sickly green light in the eyes of the undead shifters snuffed out instantly as the beams zapped through their ranks, killing the shadow creatures left and right.

The words shattered me, their icy shards dancing across my skin like a maelstrom of frozen needles. And then, in an instant, Rayne was bathed in a blindingly radiant white light. Its intensity was almost palpable, a physical force so piercing it felt like a blow to my eyes, forcing me to recoil from its brilliance.
