Kara I blink my eyes back, feeling a searing pain near my chest. Agony courses through me, intensifying with each beat of my heart. Goddess, that hurt. My eyes peer open, struggling against a blinding light that engulfs my surroundings. The air is mysteriously silent, devoid of any sound or movement.

Dark spots floated around in front of me, my vision blurring slightly with every slow blink. I fell back slowly, laying down in the mud. “Stay awake, baby. Please,” I faintly hear Parker’s voice say.
